AnalysisofthestudentsStudentsinthisstageislovely,enthusiastic,eagertolearnandactiveinclass.TheyhavebeenaccustomedtolifeandstudyinSeniorhighschoolaftertwoyears’studyhere.Sincepoemsarebeautifulinsoundandpicturesqueincreatingtheimagery,studentsareinterestedenoughandwellpreparedtounderstandsomesimpleEnglishpoemsandreadytotrytowritethepoemsoftheirown.
AnalysisoftheteachingmaterialsThetext,Poems,isfromUnit2inNewSeniorEnglishForChinaStudent’sBook3,publishedbythePeople’sEducationPress.FivesimplekindsofEnglishPoemsarelistedinthereading,amongwhichcinquainandhaikushowaclearcharacter.Studentscanlearntowritetheirownpoemsofthiscategory.

Basedontheanalysisofstudentsandtheteachingmaterials,thislessonistoachievethefollowinggoals:
1.KnowledgeObjectives:
(1)Tolearnaboutthetermsinpoemsandthecharacteristicsofpoems.

Step2.Presentation.
1.Skimtofindoutthetopicofthereadingandfivekindsofpoemsinthereading.

2.Appreciateeachkindofpoemsandtrytoconcludetheirfeaturesbyfillingintheblanks.

Step3.Practice.
Studentsaredividedinto4groupsandeachgroupsendanrepresentativetopickoutthelucknumberfrom1to4andmanagetofinishthetask.Therepresentativeisresponsibleforcollectingallthepapersofeachteammemberanddecidesonthebestonforpresentation.
Purposeofmydesign:
Tostimulatestudentstowritetheirownpoemsanddeveloptheirappreciationofthepoembyselectingthebestoneamongtheteammembersandsharingthebestonewiththereststudentsoftheclass.Studentsareencouragedtocooperatewitheachteammemberandcompetewitheachotherthroughlearningfromtheothers.
