one,madeupprimarilyofthecollegedeans,wastomakerulesofeligibility(资格);theother,composedoftheathleticdirectors,wastosetuppoliciesonthelengthoftheplayingseasonandofpracticebeforetheseasonandrelatedmatters.Twootherinteruniversitycommitteesonadmissionandfinancialaidwereaddedlater.
Thefirststeptowardorganizingfullleaguecompetitioncamein1952withtheannouncementthat,beginningwiththefallof1953,eachcollegewouldplayeveryothercollegeinthegroupatleastonceeveryfiveyears.
