Abstract
ThepresentstudypresentsadetailedreportoftheprojectimplementedtosolvetheproblemthatmostofmystudentsdonotlikedoingoralpracticeIassignthemtodoinclass.Itishypothesizedthatlearners’interestinoralpracticeinclassisincreasedbybetter-designedoralexercises.Thishypothesisisverifiedbyaeightweekclassroomteachingofthenewlydesignedoralworkexercises.

1.Introduction
MynameisLuWenjing.IgraduatedfromLanzhouEducationCollegeinJuly,2008.ImajoredinEnglishTeachingwhenIwasincollegeaboutthreeyears.IspentmostofmytimelearningEnglish,andI’velearnedalotofknowledgefrommymajor.Luckily,mydreamcametrueinMarch,2009.I’vebeenaprimaryschoolteacher.Fromthenon,IworkforYuduPrimarySchoolinJingchuanCountyasanEnglishteacher.ThissemesterIteachthestudentswhoareatGradeSix.Unluckily,mostofstudentsareshyandafraidofspeakingEnglishintheclassroom,sohowtoimprovetheirspokenEnglishhasbecomeaproblemwhichshouldbesolvedassoonaspossible.Myproblemishowtodevelopprimaryschoolstudents’spokenEnglishability.

TheproblemIhaveinmyteachingisthatmostofmystudentsdonotlikedoingtheoralpracticeIassignthemtodoinclass.
2.2Problemanalysis
Inmyteaching,theproblemidentifiedwasreallyaseriousproblem.Mypreliminaryresearchconfirmedthattherewerethreemainreasonsthataccountedforstudents’reluctancetodotheoralassignmentsinclass.Firstly,somestudentsdidnotfeelinterestedindoingoralEnglishaloneinclass.Theythoughttheycouldnotcommunicatewithoutpartners.Secondly,somestudentshadsomedifficultiesindoingoralpractice,sotheyhopedthattheycoulddoitinclassundermoreconcretedirectionoftheteacher.Thirdly,moststudentsfeltoverloadedbecauseofheavierhomeworkassignments.
TheProblemhadbeentroublingmeforalongtimeandnowIwasdeterminedtofindasolutiontotheproblem.Inmystudy,Iusedfourmethodsofanalysis.

Throughcarefulanalysis,Iwasledtoaseriesofquestions:
Forinstance,Ifoundamajorityofmystudentsdonotlikedoingthisassignment,andIwantedtoknowwhyitshouldbethecase,andwhethertheythoughtitimportantandnecessarytopracticeoralEnglishornot?
Iftheythoughtitimportantandnecessary,theproblemwasactuallycausedbymyself,notbymystudents.ProbablytheoralworkIassignedmystudentstodowaspoorlyorganized.

3.Full-ScaledImplementationoftheSolutions
3.1Makeupgroups
Inordertoguaranteethatmostofthestudentswouldbehighlyinvolvedintotheoralpractices,Idecidedtomakeupgroups.Throughtheinvestigations,Ifoundthereweretwomainproblemsforthemtodooralpracticebythemselvesathome.
OnewasthefamilymembersofmoststudentsdidnotknoworhardlyknewEnglish.
Whenthestudentsmetdifficultiesorhadproblem,theycouldn’tgetanyhelp.Andiftheymademistakesinoralpractice,theycouldn’tbecorrectedintime.
Theotherwastheythoughttherewaslittlepleasuretopracticewithoutapartner.
Throughanalysis,IthoughtIwouldliketogivespeakingthepurposeofcommunication,soitwasthemosteffectivethatIshouldcreatechancesforthemtocommunicatewitheachotherinEnglish.Iwasalsoconsciousthatthestudentswereall10or11yearsoldandtheywereallEnglishlearningbeginners,sotheyhadstrong,mutualdependence.Iftheywereorganizedintosmallgroups,notonlybothoftheproblemsabovecouldbesolvedbutalsotheycouldachievethepurposeoforalpractice.Moreover,Icouldcultivatetheirspiritofcooperationandachieveunityamongstudentsbymakingthemlearnformeachotherandhelpeachother.
Inmyclasstherewere29students,soIdividedtheminto7groups.WhenIdidthework,Ifollowedthreeprinciples:
◆Membersofeachgrouplivedinthesamearea.Sothatstudentscouldselectfreelyanysparetimetopracticeoraltaskstogether.Forexample,theycouldpracticeafterclass,beforegoinghome.Theycouldalsopracticethroughtelephone.
◆EachgroupwascomposedofthestudentsofdifferentEnglishlevelssothatgoodstudentscouldhelpthosewhohadlaggedbehind.
◆Eachgroupwasmadeupofthestudentsofdifferentpersonalitiesinordertoexertthespecialtiesofeverystudentandmakeupforeachother’sdeficiencies.
3.2Providematerials
Inordertomakeitsurethatthestudentscoulddotheoraltasksbetter,Iprovidedthemwithalotofmaterialsforreference.Thestudentsof10or11yearsoldareusuallycurious.Theyhavestrongdesireofseekingknowledgeandnovelty.Theyhopetoexpresswhattheyareinterestedin,buttheycanonlyspeakalittleEnglish.Besides,thestudentshavelittlesocialexperience,theirtrainsofthoughtarelimited.Sotheyarenotsatisfiedwiththematerialssuppliedonlyfromtexts.Inordertosolvetheproblem,Iprovidedthemwithalotofrelatedwords,topicsandmodeldialogues.Moreover,Ialsoespeciallyselectedthosematerialsthatwereclosetoreal-lifeandcouldinterestthestudents.Ithou
