Abstract:
Theinventionisconcernedwithahydraulicshield-typesupportforsupportingroofsinminescomprisingapairofbaseslidesbetweenwhichislocatedachannel-sectionguidebeamsupportinganhydraulicram.Attherearendofthehydraulicramayokeispivotallyconnectedatacentralpartthereoftotherearendoftheguidebeam,thetwoouterportionsoftheyokebeingpivotallyconnectedtotherearendportionsofthebaseslides.Thefrontextendableendoftheramisconnectedtoanelongateflattonguewhichislongitudinallyslidableintheguidebeamunderneaththehydraulicram.
1.Ahydraulicshield-typemine-roofsupportcomprisingapairofadjacentbaseslidesadaptedtoslidealongthefloorofamine,atleastonehydraulicproppivotallyconnectedatalowerendthereoftosaidbaseslides,atleasttwocontrolleverspivotallyconnectedatlowerendsthereoftosaidbaseslides,ashieldpivotallyconnectedtoupperendsofsaidcontrolleverswherebytheshieldcanbeliftedandloweredwithrespecttosaidbaseslides,amine-roofengagingstructurepivotallyattachedtoanupperportionofsaidshield,adrivingramadaptedtoactatbothendsanddisposedbetweensaidbaseslides,meansincludinganinspectionplatformconnectedtoanextendablepartofsaidramforthepurpose,inoperationoftheapparatus,ofconnectingsaidramtoaconveyorattheworkingfaceofamine,achannel-sectionguidebeamlocatedbetweensaidbaseslidesandarrangedtosupportsaiddrivingram,atransverseconnectingyokepivotablyinterconnectingsaidbaseslidesattherearendsthereoftopermitrelativemovementbetweensaidbaseslidesbothlongitudinallyandvertically,meansconnectinganoutercylinderofthedrivingramtosaidguidebeam,meanscouplingsaidtransverseyoketotherearendportionofsaidguidebeambyatleastonesubstantiallyverticalpivotpin,andmeansconnectingsaidextendablepartofsaidramtoanelongatetonguelongitudinallyguidedbysaidguidebeamwithinthechannelthereof,belowsaiddrivingram,andconnectedtosaidinspectionplatform.
2.Amine-roofsupportasclaimedinclaim1,whereinthechannelofsaidguidebeamisopenatitsuppersideandpartiallyreceivesthedrivingram.
3.Amine-roofsupportasclaimedinclaim1,whereinsaidmeansconnectingtheoutercylinderoftheramtotheguidebeamcompriseastirrupwhichbridgesthechannelintheguidebeam.
4.Amine-roofsupportasclaimedinclaim1,whereinsaidsubstantiallyverticalpivotpincouplingsaidtransverseyoketotheguidebeamislocatedatacentralportionofsaidyoke,andwhereintheouterportionsofsaidyokearepivotallyconnectedtotherespectivebaseslidesthroughlongitudinally-extendinghingejointpins,eachpinbeingsecuredsothatitcanrotateaboutitslongitudinalaxisinarespectivebearinghousingdisposedattherearendoftherespectivebaseslide.

InGermanPublishedPatentApplicationNo.2644999thereisdescribedahydraulicshield-typemine-roofsupportcomprisingtwobaseslideswhicharemovablerelativelytooneanotherinaverticaldirectionandwhichformapedestalforhydraulicvertically-adjustableprops,aroof-engagingplateorotherstructurewhichispivotednearitsback-fillingendtoanobliquely-disposedshieldguidedinaverticallypivotablemannerbycontrolleverspivotablyconnectingtherearportionoftheshieldtothebaseslides,andahydraulicdrivingramdisposedbetweenthebaseslides.Oneendofthedrivingramofthesupportisconnectabletoacross-memberconnectingthebaseslidesontheworkingfaceside,whiletheotherendofthedrivingramisconnectableattheback-fillingsideviaatransverseyoketoaguidelinkagewhich,inturn,attheworking-faceside,isconnectedtoaconveyor,drivingbeamorthelike.
Theforceofthedrivingramrequiredformovingthesupportforwardsistransmittedtothebaseslidesviathecross-memberontheworking-faceside.If,duringtheadvanceofthesupport,oneofthebaseslidesmovesoveranunevenpartoftheminefloor,theresult(owingtothepivotingconnectionofthecontrolleverstotheshieldandthebaseslides)willbealiftingmotionofthatbasesliderelativelytotheotherslideandasimultaneousforwardmotion.Thesaidcross-membermustthereforebeconstructedtofollowthecomplicatedmotionofthebaseslidesintwodirections,sinceotherwisethedrivingramwillbeloadedbyunacceptably-hightransverseforces.However,thestructurerequiredformakingthispossibleisrelativelyexpensiveandtakesuptoomuchspace.Inparticular,asthecross-memberanditsassociatedstructureisdisposedintheworking-faceregionofthebaseslideswherethetravelling-roadusuallyis,theroadisconsiderablyobstructedasaresult.Itisthereforenecessary,particularlyinthinseams,tomovethedriveramfurtherintothesupport,thusreducingthetotallengthofthesupport.
Inordertoshortenthetotallengthofthedrivingmechanismandallowthedrivingramtomovefurtherintothesupport,ithasbeenproposedtomountthedriveramonaswivelmountingatonesideonabaseslideofthesupport,abridgeinterconnectingthetwobaseslides,servingonly,inthiscase,toguidethebaseslidesparalleltooneanother--seeGermanPublishedPatentApplicationNo.2644614.Thisdrivemechanism,however,hasthedisadvantagethatthedrivingforceexertedononlyonebaseslideisnowtransmittedtotheadjacentbaseslideviatheshieldandtheabove-mentionedcontrollevers.Asaresult,theadjacentbaseslideissubjectedtoacomponentofforcedirectedtowardstheflooroftheminewhichpressesthetipofthelatterslideintothefloor.
Themainobjectofthepresentinvention,therefore,istoprovideadrivemechanismwhichdoesnotobstructthetravelling-roadinthefrontregionofthesupportandwhichtransmitstheforceofthedrivingramtobothbaseslidessubstantiallyequally.
Withthisobjectinview,theinventionisdirectedtoahydraulicshield-typemineroofsupportcomprisingapairofadjacentbaseslidesadaptedtoslidealongthefloorofamine,atleastonehydraulicproppivotallyconnectedatalowerendthereoftosaidbaseslides,atleasttwocontrolleverspivotallyconnectedatlowerendsthereoftosaidbaseslides,ashieldpivotallyconnectedtoupperendsofsaidcontrolleverswherebytheshieldcanbeliftedandloweredwithrespecttosaidbaseslides,amine-roofengagingstructurepivotallyattachedtoanupperportionofsaidshield,adrivingramadaptedtoactatbothendsanddisposedbetweensaidbaseslides,meansincludinganinspectionplatformconnectedtoanextendablepartofsaidramforthepurpose,inoperationoftheapparatus,ofconnectingsaidramtoaconveyorattheworkingfaceofamine,aguidebeamlocatedbetweensaidbaseslidesandarrangedtosupportsaiddrivingram,atransverseconnectingyokepivotablyinterconnectingsaidbaseslidesattherearendsthereof,meansconnectinganoutercylinderofthedrivingramtosaidguidebeam,andmeansconnectingsaidextendablepartofsaidramtoanelongatetonguelongitudinallyguidedbysaidguidebeamandconnectedtosaidinspectionplatform.

Themine-roofsupportshowninthedrawingscomprisesapairofbaseslides1,2whichliealongsideeachotherandareshapedtoslideoverthefloorofamine.Pivotallyconnectedtothebaseslidesisatleastonehydraulicprop3andatleasttwocontrollevers4and5,thelowerendoftheprop3beingconnectedtothebaseslidesbythepivotmeans6,andthelowerendsofthelevers4and5beingconnectedtothebaseslidesbythepivotmeans7,8.Theupperendsofthelevers4,5arepivotallyconnectedat10and11respectivelytoashield12whichcan,byexpansionandcontractionoftheprop3,beraisedandloweredwithrespecttothebaseslides1,2.Atitsupperend,theshield12pivotallysupportsat13aroof-engagingplateorothersuchstructure14towhichtheupperendoftheprop3ispivotallyconnectedat9.Thefaceofthemineisshownat31inFIG.1.
Ahydraulicdrivingram15whichcanactatbothendsisdisposedbetweenthebaseslides1,2inachannel-sectionguidebeam16whichisclosedtowardsthefloorofthemine.Theram15issecuredtothebeam16byaretainingstirrup17whichisdisposedontheuppersurfaceoftheoutercylinder18oftheram15andwhichissecuredbycotterpins19tothesidewalls20ofthebeam16.Thefreeendoftheextendableinnercylinder21oftherampointstowardstheworking-face15andisconnectedtoanupwardly-projectingbracket22ofanelongatetongue23whichislongitudinallyguidedundertheram15inthebeam16.Thetongue23hasaflatrectangularcross-section(seeFIG.2)andisguidedoveritsentirelengthinthebeamwhentheram15isfullyretracted.Attheworking-faceside,thetongueextendsfromtheramabutmentformedbythebracket22intoaflatinspectionplatform24whichcanmoveoverthefloorandisconnectedinturntoaconveyor,drivingbeamofliketransportingmeans25(shownonlydiagrammaticallyinthedrawings)disposedatthework
