Aimsofthemodule:
ThismoduleaimstoprovideEnglishasaforeignlanguagelearnerswiththeopportunitytoengageineffectivecommunicationinvariousbusinessenvironments(e.g.accounting,management,marketing,HRM).Thisinvolvesdevelopingawarenessofdifferentculturalapproachesinbusinesssituations,andappropriatelanguagedemands,bothspokenandwritten.Theserequirementsincludebothunderstandingandknowinghowtoperformtheactivitiesandhowtoadapttodifferentsituations.
ContentoftheCourse:
Youwillcoverthefourlanguageskillsofreading,writing,listeningandspeaking.Thetopicareaswillfocusonthelinguisticrequirementsindoingbusinessandwillmakeuseofauthenticandappropriatetextssuchasnewspaperandmagazinearticles.Youwillbeabletoanalyzethefunctionalandpragmaticrequirementsofbusinesssituations(meetings,negotiations,interviews,andsoon)whichwillbedevelopedthroughcasestudiesandvariousexercises.Topicareasincludebranding,ethicsinmarketing,consultancy,corporateculture,globalization,andstrategy.
