Construction(建筑)oftheAmberRoombeganin1701.ItwasoriginallyputatCharlottenburgPalace,homeofFrederickⅠ,thefirstKingofPrussia.TheroomwasdesignedbyGermansculptor(雕刻家)AndreasSchluter.PetertheGreatlovedtheroomonavisit,andin1716theKingofPrussia—thenFrederickWilliamⅠ—sentittoPetertheGreatasagift.
TheAmberRoomwasshippedtoRussiain18largeboxesandputinthewinterpalaceinStPetersburgasapartofaEuropeanartcollection.Itwasfirstopenin1746inthewinterpalace,whereitwashousedtill1755.In1755,CzarinaElizabethorderedtheroombemovedtotheCatherinePalaceinPushkin.ItaliandesignerBartolomeoFrancescoRastrelliredesignedtheroomtofitintoitsnew,largerspaceusingextraambershippedfromBerlin.
Itseemshardtobelievethatboxesofseveraltonsofambercouldgomissing,andmanyhistorianshavetriedtosolvethemystery.Themostbasictheoryisthattheboxesweredestroyedbythebombings(轰炸)of1944.OthersbelievethattheamberisstillinKaliningrad,whilesomesayitwasputontoashipandcanbefoundsomewhereatthebottomoftheBalticSea.OneofthemoreextremetheoriesisthatStalinactuallyhadasecondAmberRoomandtheGermansstoleafake(赝品).
ThehistoryofthenewAmberRoom,atleast,isknownforsure.Thereconstructionbeganin1979atTsarskoyeSeloandwascompleted25years—and$11million—later.ItisbasedlargelyonblackandwhitephotographsoftheoriginalAmberRoom.By2003thegreatworkoftheRussiancraftsmenhadbeenmostlycompleted.ArtistsusedclosetotentonsofamberofdifferentcolorsandtypestorecreatetheAmberRoom.Thenewroomwasdedicated(把……献给)byRussianPresidentVladimirPutinandGermanChancellorGerhardSchroderonthe300thbirthdayofthecityofStPetersburg.

(3)insearchof寻找,搜寻,在句中常作表语或目的状语,后接寻找的对象或目标。
名词search前不加限定词。
若search前加a/the/one’s等限定词时,of要换成for,即ina/the/one’ssearchfor寻找,搜寻。
