Thebeautyofreadingbooksthatwereintroducedtoyouasachildisthatyouarealreadyfamiliarwiththeplot.Thereforeyoucanworkoutsomewordswithyourknowledgeofthestory.Atfirst,Iusedtoreadwiththebookinonehandandadictionaryintheother,butthisdidnotworkwell.ThemethodIwouldrecommendistoreadachapterfirstandattheendofthatchapter,highlightthenewwordsandthenlookupthedefinitions.Ifyoucanwaitabitbeforeusingadictionary,youmaybesurprisedwhatyoucanunderstandmerelyfromthecontext.Additionally,alotofchildren'sbookshavepictureswhichmaygiveyouaclueastowhatortowhomthepassageisreferring.
Ifyoucanfindatranslationofthebooksyouhavereadasachild,Iwouldstronglyadvisereadingthoseifyouareacompletebeginner.However,ifyoufeelabitmoreconfidentreadinginEnglish,Iwouldpersonallyrecommendtheseriesof‘HarryPotter’booksbyJ.K.RowlingoranyoftheRoaldDahlchildren'sbooks.
