Abstract
AsoneofMarkTwain’srepresentativeworks,TheAdventuresofTomSawyer isan1876 novel aboutayoungboy,TomSawyer,growingupalongthe MississippiRiver.Sincethebookwaspublished,itisgreatlyreviewedbythousandsofAmericans,bothchildrenandgrown-ups,asthisnovelisnotsolelyadescriptionofchildren,butalsoasymboloftheauthor’sironicattitudetothehypocriticaloftheadultworld.Undoubtedly,Tomisaclever,playful,andadventurouschild.Hedarestofightwiththesocialrules,theadult’sauthorityandhypocrisy.Heneverstopsmakingeffortstogetfreeandliveinhisownway.ThereasonwhypeopleworshipTomSawyerfromgenerationtogenerationisthatpeople’sdreamforfreedomandgoodnessneverdieeasily.Hischaracterhasauniquecharm.Butbasedonpreciousresearch,thispaperprobesintotheanalysisofTomSawyer’scharacterinthreeaspects,namely,innocenceandromance,witandleadership,rebellionandheroism,allofwhichshapesTomSawyer’suniquecharm.

摘要
作为马克吐温的代表作品之一,汤姆索亚历险记是一部关于一个生长在密西西比河畔的小男孩,汤姆索亚的小说。
这部作品一问世,就受到成千上万美国读者的关注,不光孩子们喜欢,成年人也不例外。
因为这不仅仅是一部儿童读本,更是作者从一个孩子的角度,对虚伪的大人世界的讽刺。
无疑,汤姆是一个聪明淘气敢于冒险的孩子。
他敢于和现有的社会规则,大人世界的权威和伪善作斗争。
他从来没有停止过对自由的追求的努力。
之所以汤姆索亚受到许多人的佩服在于人们对于自由和善良的渴望没有消失。
他的性格有着独特的魅力。
基于之前学者的研究,本文从性格方面着手,分三个章节来分析出汤姆·索亚的性格,分别是天真浪漫、聪明机智、叛逆勇敢,这三方面的性格特点使得汤姆·索亚极具个人魅力。

Introduction
SamuelLanghorneClemens(November30,1835–April21,1910),wellknownbyhispennameMarkTwain,wasanAmericanauthor,humoristandoutstandingrepresentativeofrealism.
TheAdventuresofTomSawyerwasfinishedin1876whentheUnitedStatesendedtheCivilWar.Thenationhadthousandsofthingstodotorebuildtheircountry;peoplewereinspiredtotrytheirbesttocreateanewcountry.Atthesametime,PresidentLincolnissuedEmancipationProclamationin1863.EmancipationProclamationmadetheNegroslavesfreefromtheoppressionofCapitalists.Thetraditionaleconomicmodelwascorrupting,anddoomedtobereplacedbyCapitalismcomingfromtheNorth.Peopleinthiscountryalllivedwithnewhopes.
TomSawyer,anaughtyandbraveboy,soonbecomeoneofthewell-knowncharactersthroughAmericanliteraryhistory.Inwritingaboutchildhoodexperiences,MarkTwainshowsthetrustworthinessoftheheartasseeninchildren,thepleasureofruralAmericanasseenthroughchildren’seyes,themoraldeclinethatcouldaccompanygrowingupandthesenseoflosswhenchildhoodisgone.IfMarkTwaindoesnotcriticizethesocialdirectlyasatheorist,thefactmoreeffectiveinthatheshowsagenuinehatredforsocialmaturation,society’shypocrisy,authority,andilliberalityinthebigsocietybackgroundthroughhisskilleduseofhumor.Heisrelentlesswithhishumorinexposingtheimportanceofreligiousteachinginthefaceoftemptationandtheiniquityofslavery.Insum,MarkTwain’sassaultofthehypocrisyintheadultworldshowsthathealwayskeepschildren’sInnocenceandgoodnessinhisheart.
However,MarkTwainisnotagoodromanticistbecauseheknowsthatchild-likeinnocenceandgoodnessisnotexistsintherealworld.TheinnocentcharacterbuiltbyMarkTwainalwaysaimstoironythehypocrisyintheadultworld.Asanironist,MarkTwainallowsustoseetheadultthroughtheeyesofachild,andtoseethechildthroughtheadult’sperspective.Hisgreatestgiftisthereforehismultidimensionalunderstandingofinnocence.ThisunderstandingofinnocenceinMarkTwainhasbeendeeplyextendedtoAmericansencounteringEurope.Inmuchencounters,theironyof“innocence”mocksboththeAmericannaivetyandtheEuropeanpretentiousness.AmericaandEuropetakeonthesameironicdynamismsthatinvolveachildandanadult.
Sofar,therehavebeenmanywritersorliteraryloversstudiedMarkTwain'sTheadventuresofTomSawyer.Eitherwriters,literaryenthusiasts,ortheordinaryreaders,areimpressedbyTom.OnTom'spersonalityeveryonehasdifferentinterpretationandanalysis.Nomatterwhatkindofinterpretationandanalysis,undoubtedly,Tomisaclever,playful,adventurouschild.TheadventuresofTomSawyerissowelcome,becauseTom'scharacterhasauniquecharm.LiuXiaodansaidthatTomisfulloffantasyandadventure,notwillingtoenduretheindividuality,boringlife,hopetodoaheroiccareer,givereadersadeepimpression.Heovercomesfeartosavetheinnocentpeople.Therefore,hebecamealittleheroinpeople’heart.Tomisacollectionofmultipleroles.Heepitomizedthewisdom,strategy,justice,courageandleadership.ThestoryofTom,foldAuthorMarkTwinfromchildhoodpersonality--rebellious,lively,active,machineSpirit.Thisisnotjustadescriptionofachild,thechildcanseetheagencyWilldefects--backwardineducationsystem,educationmethodtotheextremeandpedantic,onthechildrencausedharmtothesoul.ButTom'smove,itreflectsthesocialBackground,withanewgenerationoforthemanwithanewideatothesocialsystemchallengesthepositivesignificance,itmakesthesocietyfullofhope.WangDishengsaidthatHeisnotagoodchildinadults'heart.Heknowswhattherealgoodchildrenlike,andhatetherealgoodchildren.Inthenovel,hemadealotofmistakesthosegoodchildrenarenotwillingtomake.Hestole,lie,truancyandevenfight.Allbehaviorshowsthatheisabadboyinadults’heart.Butreaderslikehimverymuch.Tomplayedabadboy,butheisnotreallyabadboy.Afterhewentmissing,hisauntwhoisusuallyverystrictwithhimsaidheisnotreallybad,hejustwastoonaughty.Heisonlyachild,hewasnottoblame.Indeed,hedidnotdorealbadthings,hisbehaviorwascompletelynormal.Healsodidsomegood,andbecameaheroinpeople’heart.WuJuansaidthatunderthepenofMarkTwin,TomSoyaissolivelyandlovely.HeisnotonlyinthemindsofthepeopleoftheUnitedStates,andacrosstheborder,acrosstheocean,astheworld’schildren'spartner,theworld'speople’sloveson.AlmosteveryonecanfindthesamewithyourdreampicturefromTom'sstory.TomSoyaisnotonlyamultifacetedcharacter,butalsoafairyinpeople’sdreamofchildhood.TomisoneofAmericanliteraturehistorythemostmischievouschildimage.Heisinnocentandlively,cleverandsensible,mischievous,andfulloffantasy.Hestole,lie,truancyandevenfight.AuntPollysaidIhaveneverseenmorenaughtychildrenthanhim.AfterTheadventuresofTomSawyerpublished,Tomwasknownasoneofthemostfamousurchinimageintheliteraturehistory.LuHuipingsaidthatTomSoyaisaveryattractiveyoungboy,notsimplyasagoodboyorabadboy.Hewas"goodandevil"image.Heisnaughty,butalsohasdevelopedintonormaladults’heart.NoteveryonewilllikeTomsonaughty,butreadthebook,everyonehopesthatheisTomsawyer.Thisisthenatureofhumanbeings:
