Monitoringdailyactivitiesisn’tanewconcept.Inyearspast,athletesandtheircoacheskeptnotesdetailingnutrition,trainingandsleeppatternsinordertoachieveanathleticgoal.Similarly,doctorshavealsohelpedpatientstorecordpartsoftheirlifestylesandeatinghabitstohelpfightallergies,headachesandotherhealthproblems.However,itwasn’tuntil2007thatmagazineeditorsGaryWolfandKimKelly,whostartedtrackingeverymovetheymade,coinedtheterm“QuantifiedSelf.”Wolfsaysthatthenewtoolswillchangeoursenseofselfwiththepurposeofmakingusmoreeffectiveintheworld.
