虽然他的路程是艰险而陡峻.
Andwhenhiswingsenfoldyou,yieldtohim,
当他的翅翼围卷你们的时候,屈服于他,
Thoughtheswordhiddenamonghispinionsmaywoundyou.
虽然那藏在羽翮中间的剑刃也许会伤毁你们.
Andwhenhespeakstoyou,believeinhim,
当他对你们说话的时候,信从他,
Thoughhisvoicemayshatteryourdreamsasthenorthwindlayswastethegarden.
虽然他的声音会把你们的梦魂南击碎,如同北风吹荒了林园.
Forevenaslovecrownsyousoshallhecrucifyyou.
爱虽给你加冠,他也要把你钉在十字架上.
Evenasheisforyourgrowthsoisheforyourpruning.
他虽栽培你,他也刈剪你.

他揉搓你直至柔韧;
Andthenheassignsyoutohissacredfire,thatyoumaybecomesacredbreadforGod'ssacredfeast.
然后他送你到他的圣火上去,使你成为上帝圣筵上的圣饼.
Allthesethingsshalllovedo
这些都是爱要给你们做的事情,
untoyouthatyoumayknowthesecretsofyourheart,
使你知道自己心中的秘密,
andinthatknowledgebecomeafragmentofLife'sheart.
在这知识中你便成了”生命”心中的一屑.
Butifinyourfearyouwouldseekonlylove'speaceandlove'spleasure,
假如你在你的疑惧中,只寻求爱的和平与逸乐,
Then itisbetterforyouthatyoucoveryournakednessandpassoutoflove'sthreshing-floor,
那不如掩盖你的裸露,而射过爱的筛打,而走入那没有季候的世界,
Intotheseasonlessworldwhereyoushalllaugh,butnotallofyourlaughter,
在那里你将欢笑,却不是尽量的笑悦,

你将哭泣,却没有流干眼泪.

爱除自身外无施与,除自身外无接受.

爱不占有,也不被占有.

因为爱在爱中满足了.

当你爱的时候,你不要说”上帝在我的心中”,

却要说”我在上帝的心里”.

不要想你能导引爱的路程,因为若是他觉得你配,他就导引你.
Lovehasnootherdesirebuttofulfillitself.
爱没有别的愿望,只要成全自己.
Butifyouloveandmustneedshavedesires, letthesebeyourdesires:
但若是你爱,而且需求愿望,就让以下的做你的愿望吧:
Tomeltandbelikearunningbrookthatsingsitsmelodytothenight.
溶化了你自己,像溪流般对清夜吟唱着歌曲.
Toknowthepainoftoomuchtenderness.
要知道过度温存的痛苦.
Tobewoundedbyyourownunderstandingoflove;
让你对于爱的了解毁伤了你自己;
Andtobleedwillinglyandjoyfully.
而且甘愿地喜乐地流血.
Towakeatdawnwithawingedheartandgivethanksforanotherdayofloving;
清晨醒起,以喜颺的心来致谢这爱的又一日;
Torestatthenoonhourandmeditatelove'secstasy;
日中静息,默念爱的浓欢;
Toreturnhomeateventidewithgratitude;
晚潮退时,感谢地回家;
Andthentosleepwithaprayerforthebelovedinyourheartandasongofpraiseuponyourlips.
然后在睡时祈祷,因为有被爱者在你心中,有赞美之歌在你的唇上.
诗歌赏析
当我们说时,我们要首先问问自己,是爱她的身体、才智、还是思想中幻想的的形象……
对别人才智的欣赏、崇拜亦不是真爱,因为那是由思维而生的,是一种随时会变化的东西。
身体的吸引不是真爱,因为随着时间的流逝,自己的外在容貌会渐渐的失去年轻时候的光泽。
梦中情人的形象更是一种思维的幻象,不同于实际的情况。
思维不会去爱,只会欲求。
所以当对方和自己的想法不一致时,情人间就产生了矛盾。
于是爱的对象变成是满足自己欲望的对象。
当欲望得到满足后,那种新奇感便没有了。
比如:
小孩子得到一个新玩具感到兴奋,但过了几天,那种新奇感和兴奋便没有了。
建立在身体吸引上、或者建立在对别人才智欣赏的爱的关系,会出现同样的情况。
而且那种吸引力可能来自社会制约、传媒塑造出来的形象、甚至是自我欺骗。
导致我们经常把其它东西误认为爱,例如占有、自私自利等。
但是我们也不应走入另一个极端,去否认这一切,真正的爱是超然的,是不执着的。
执着不是坚持,执着是将别人看做自己的一部分。
无执著的爱是无条件的,不会附着于任何人或事物。
爱,也可以像老子所说的“无为而为”。
我们去爱,却不带任何目的;我们去付出,却不期望任何回报。
因为自己的欲望是"0"。
如果有哪怕一丁点的回报,也超越了我们的预期,超越了我们欲望的本身,我们自然会觉得喜乐。
那么如果没有回报,但因为欲望是"0",那么会像纪伯伦在《论爱》中所说:
爱不占有,也不被占有。
因为爱在爱中满足了。

Allthesethingsshalllovedountoyouthatyoumayknowthesecretsofyourheart,andinthatknowledgebecomeafragmentofLife'sheart.
Butifinyourfearyouwouldseekonlylove'speaceandlove'spleasure,
Thenitisbetterforyouthatyoucoveryournakednessandpassoutoflove'sthreshing-floor,
Intotheseasonlessworldwhereyoushalllaugh,butnotallofyourlaughter,andweep,butnotallofyourtears.
Lovegivesnaughtbutitselfandtakesnaughtbutfromitself.
Lovepossessesnotnorwoulditbepossessed;
Forloveissufficientuntolove.

Thesearethebelieversinlifeandthebountyoflife,andtheircofferisneverempty.
Therearethosewhogivewithjoy,andthatjoyistheirreward.
Andtherearethosewhogivewithpain,andthatpainistheirbaptism.
Andtherearethosewhogiveandknownotpainingiving,nordotheyseekjoy,norgivewithmindfulnessofvirtue;
Theygiveasinyondervalleythemyrtlebreathesitsfragranceintospace.
ThroughthehandsofsuchastheseGodspeaks,andfrombehindtheireyesHesmilesupontheearth.
Itiswelltogivewhenasked,butitisbettertogiveunasked,throughunderstanding;
Andtotheopen-handedthesearchforonewhoshallreceiveisjoygreaterthangiving.
Andisthereaughtyouwouldwithhold?
Allyouhaveshallsomedaybegiven;
Thereforegivenow,thattheseasonofgivingmaybeyoursandnotyourinheritors'.
Youoftensay,"Iwouldgive,butonlytothedeserving."
Thetreesinyourorchardsaynotso,northeflocksinyourpasture.
Theygivethattheymaylive,fortowithholdistoperish.
Surelyhewhoisworthytoreceivehisdaysandhisnights,isworthyofallelsefromyou.
Andhewhohasdeservedtodrinkfromtheoceanoflifedeservestofillhiscupfromyourlittlestream.

Seefirstthatyouyourselfdeservetobeagiver,andaninstrumentofgiving.
Forintruthitislifethatgivesuntolifewhileyou,whodeemyourselfagiver,arebutawitness.
Andyoureceivers...andyouareallreceivers...assumenoweightofgratitude,lestyoulayayokeuponyourselfanduponhimwhogives.

Yetthetimelessinyouisawareoflife'stimelessness,

Andthatthatwhichsingsandcontemplatesinyouisstilldwellingwithintheboundsofthatfirstmomentwhichscatteredthestarsintospace.
Whoamongyoudoesnotfeelthathispowertoloveisboundless?
Andyetwhodoesnotfeelthatverylove,thoughboundless,encompassedwithinthecentreofhisbeing,andmovingnotfromlovethoughttolovethought,norfromlovedeedstootherlovedeeds?
Andisnottimeevenasloveis,undividedandspaceless?
Butifinyourthoughtyoumustmeasuretimeintoseasons,leteachseasonencirclealltheotherseasons,
Andlettodayembracethepastwithremembranceandthefuturewithlonging.
