Abstract
Manymassdisastersresultinlossoflives.Lawenforcementand/orpublicsafetyandhealthofficialsoftenhavetheresponsibilityforidentifyingthehumanremainsfoundatthescene,sotheycanbereturnedtotheirfamilies.Therecoveredhumanremainsrangefrombeingrelativelyintacttohighlydegraded.DNA-basedidentitytestingisapowerfultoolforvictimidentificationinthatthedataarenotrestrictedtoanyparticularonetoonebodylandmarkcomparisonandDNAprofilecomparisonscanbeusedtoassociateseparatedremainsorbodyparts.EventhoughDNAtypingisstraightforward,adisasterisachaoticenvironmentthatcancomplicateeffectiveidentificationoftheremains.Withsomeplanning,oratleastidentificationofthesalientfeaturestoconsider,stresscanbereducedforthoseinvolvedintheidentificationprocess.GeneralguidelinesareprovidedfordevelopinganactionplanforidentificationofhumanremainsfromamassdisasterbyDNAanalysis.Theseinclude:
(1)samplecollection,preservation,shippingandstorage;
(2)trackingandchainofcustodyissues;(3)laboratoryfacilities;(4)qualityassuranceandqualitycontrolpractices;(5)parsingoutwork;(6)extractionandtyping;(7)interpretationofresults;(8)automation;(9)softwarefortrackingandmanagingdata;(10)theuseofanadvisorypanel;(11)educationandcommunication;and(12)privacyissues.Inaddition,keytechnologiesthatmayfacilitatetheidentificationprocessarediscussed,suchasresinbasedDNAextraction,real-timePCRforquantitationofDNA,useofmini-STRs,SNPdetectionprocedures,andsoftware.ManyofthefeaturesnecessaryforDNAtypingofhumanremainsfromamassdisasterarethesameasthoseformissingpersons'cases.Therefore,developingamissingpersonsDNAidentificationprogramwouldalsoprovidethebasisforamassdisasterhumanremainsDNAidentificationprogram.

Withubiquitouscomputingandnetworkaccessnowareality,multiplenetworkconduitsarebecomewidelyavailabletomobileaswellasstatichosts:
forinstancewiredconnections,802.11stylewirelessLANs,Bluetooth,andcellularphonemodems.Selectionofthepreferredmodeofdatatransferisadynamicoptimizationproblemwhichdependsonthetypeofapplication,itsbandwidth/latency/jitterrequirements,currentnetworkconditions(suchascongestionortrafficpatterns),cost,powerconsumption,batterylife,andsoon.Furthermore,sincewirelessbandwidthislikelytoremainascarceresource,weforeseescenarioswhereinmobilehostswillrequiresimultaneousdatatransferacrossmultipleIPinterfacestoobtainhigheroverallbandwidth.
Wepresentabriefoverviewofexistingworkwhichenablesthesimultaneoususeofmultiplenetworkinterfacesandidentifytheapplicabilityaswellasstrengthsandweaknessesoftheserelatedapproaches.WethenproposeanewmechanismtoaggregatethebandwidthofmultipleIPpathsbysplittingadataflowacrossmultiplenetworkinterfacesattheIPlevel.Wehaveanalyzedtheperformancecharacteristicsofouraggregationschemeanddemonstratesignificantgainswhenthenetworkpathsbeingaggregatedhavesimilarbandwidthandlatencycharacteristics.Inaddition,ourmethodistransparenttotransport(TCP/UDP)andhigherlayers,andallowstheuseofmultiplenetworkinterfacestoenhancereliability.Ouranalysisidentifiestheconditionsunderwhichtheproposedscheme,oranyotherschemethatstripesasingleTCPconnectionacrossmultipleIPpaths,canbeusedtoincreasethroughput.

Abstract
Shoe-last,a3Dmouldusedformakingfootwear,influencetheshape,sizeandfittingoffootwear.Currentshoe-lastdesignsoftwarehasfocusedmainlyonreverseengineeringofexistingshoe-lastandmodification.Shoe-lastdesignershavegenerallypreferredtodesigntheshoe-lastmanuallyduetolimitationsofdesignsoftware.Inordertosolvetheseproblems,anewsoftwarebasedonCATIAplatformwasdeveloped.Theshoe-lastmodelisbasedonfootshapemeasurementdataandfootbiomechanics.Usingtheexistingshoe-lastdesignstandardsandthesectionsfromexistingshoe-lasts,designtablesandrelationshipequationsenablesthedesignofshoe-lastwithdifferenttoetype,heelheightandcustomshoe-last.Thedesignincludescomfortandfitaspectsaswellasdesignaspect,thereforeenablesdesignofaestheticalcomfortableshoes.Sincethedesigncanbemodifiedinstantaneously,thedesignerscouldvisualizedesignchangesleadingtoareductioninshoe-lastdesigncycle.
