InDecember2020,therescuersteamedupwithUK-basednon-profitorganizationSaveGiraffesNowtoconstructabarge(驳船),whichisdesignedandbuiltspecificallytocarrytall,heavygiraffes.Itfloatsatopaseriesofemptydrumswithitssidesmadehighertokeeptheanimalsfromjumpingoutasthebargewasgentlypulledbyboats.
TheirfirstgiraffetobesavedwasAsiwa,whowastrappedalonewithnofoodsources.However,makingthegentlegiantgetonthebargewasnoteasy.Thegiraffesdon'tknowthatyou'retryingtohelpthem,"O'Connor,presidentofSaveGiraffesNow,says."Theythinkyou'llhurtthem.Sothey'rereallytryingtoworkagainstyou,whichmakesitevenharder."
AfterseveralattemptstoleadAsiwaonboardthebargewithtreatsfailed,thescientistshadnochoicebuttosedate(注射镇定剂)her.Whileit'softenusedtotransportlargeanimals,itisnotthepreferredmethodforgiraffessincethechangeinbloodpressurecoulddamagetheirbrains.

Model-Tisnotautonomous.Instead,itisoperatedbyhuman"pilots"wearingvirtualglassesandspecialgloves.Therefore,theoperatorsareableto"feel"theproductthattherobotisholdingintheirhandsandthenguideittotherightshelf.Sincetheconnectionbetweentherobotandthehumanoperatoronlyhasa0.05secondslatency(时延),theoperationprocessisnearlyseamless.TelexistencesaystheVR-controlledrobotsareeasiertodevelop.Theyarealsotentimescheaperthanautonomousrobots,whichrequiremuchmoreprogramming.
