Scenario
Statisticalqualitycontrol(SQC)isthetermusedtodescribethesetofstatisticaltoolsusedbyqualityprofessionals.Statisticalqualitycontrolcanbedividedintothreebroadcategories:
1.Descriptivestatisticsareusedtodescribequalitycharacteristicsandrelationships.
Includedarestatisticssuchasmean,standarddeviation,error,range,anddistributionofdatameasured.Understandhowthequalityofananalyticalresultmaybeexpressed.
2.Statisticalprocesscontrol(SPC)involvesinspectingarandomsampleoftheoutputfromaprocessanddecidingwhethertheprocessisproducingproductswithcharacteristicsthatfallwithinapredeterminedrange.SPCanswersthequestionofwhethertheprocessisfunctioningproperlyornot.Statisticalprocesscontrolmethodsextendtheuseofdescriptivestatisticstomonitorthequalityoftheproductandprocess.Usingstatisticalprocesscontrolwecandeterminetheamountofvariationthatiscommonornormal,wemonitortheproductionprocesstomakesureproductionstayswithinthisnormalrangeandtheprocessisinastateofcontrol.Themostcommonlyusedtoolformonitoringtheproductionprocessisacontrolchart.Differenttypesofcontrolchartsareusedtomonitordifferentaspectsoftheproductionprocess.
3.Acceptancesamplingistheprocessofrandomlyinspectingasampleofgoodsanddecidingwhethertoaccepttheentirelotbasedontheresults.Acceptancesamplingdetermineswhetherabatchofgoodsshouldbeacceptedorrejected.
