3.Scope
ThisdocumentdefinestherequirementsandcorrespondingtestprocedurestoqualifytheabilityofaMetroEthernetNetworktodeliverEthernetservices,suchasE-LineandE-LANservicesasdefinedbytheMetroEthernetForum.ThetestsaredefinedfromthepointofviewoftheSubscriber’sequipmentthatisusedtoaccesstheservices.Thegoalsofthetestdefinitionsarethree-fold.ThefirstgoalistoprovidetestprocedurestoSubscriberstohelpthemensurethesuccessfulintegrationofEthernetServicesintotheiroverallnetworkinginfrastructures.Thesecondgoalistoprovidetestdefinitionstohost,switch,androutervendorsallowingthemtoensurethattheirproductscanbeusedintheMENtoallowSubscriberstosuccessfullyaccessEthernetServices.ThethirdistoprovideServiceProviderswithasuiteofteststhatallowthemtodeterminetheabilityoftheMENtoofferEthernetServicesconformanttoMetroEthernetForumspecifications.TherequirementsdefinedinthisdocumentarebasedonSections6and7oftheMetroEthernetForumTechnicalCommitteeEthernetServicesModeldocument[EthernetServicesModel].RequirementsandtestprocedurestoqualifythereadinessofaMENtosupportfurtherservices,attributesandparameterswillbedefinedinsubsequentrevisions.
