Whenpolicevisitthesceneofacrime,theyoftenlookforfingerprintstotrytoidentifythecriminal.Butaccordingtoarecentstudy,investigatorscouldevenusemicrobestohelpbreakacriminalcase.Everypersonhashisorherownsetofmicrobesthatliveontheirhands,accordingtoscientistsattheUniversityofColorado.Thatmeansthemixofdifferentkindsofmicrobesoneverybody􀆳shandisunique—muchlikeone􀆳sfingerprint.Thescientistswantedtoknowwhetherthismicrobemixcouldbeusedasanewkindoffingerprint—especiallyinacrimescenewherefingerprintsmightbehardtofind.Andpolicemenuseforensicssuchasstudyingfingerprintstoidentifythecriminal.
