Abstract
BytheentranceofLatviaintotheEuropeanUnionthechangesweremadeinthenormativeandlegalbasisofthecountry,including,thesechangesaffectedtheCodeofAdministrativeViolationsofLatvia,wheretheArticle149.4,Part11hadanotionofsuchviolationlike“aggressivedriving”introduced.Understandingofthereasonsofsuchbehaviorofdriversisanimportantissueinthisconnection.TheaimoftheresearchcarriedoutwasthesurveyoftherepresentationsofinhabitantsofLatviaaboutthereasonsofaggressivedriving.Duringtheinvestigationamethodofinterviewingandpollingwasapplied.TherespondentsareresidentsofdifferentregionsofLatvia,whichweredescribedbyvarioussociallydemographiccriterions.
Duringtheprocessofresearchthefollowingcategoriesofreasonsofaggressivedrivingintherepresentationsofrespondentswerebroughttolight–physicalconditionofthedriverandemotionalconditionofthedriveratthemomentofdrivingvehicle,characteristicsconnecteddirectlywiththepersonalityofthedriver,conditionofenvironment,peculiaritiesofworkofthetrafficpolice,levelofsocietyculture,qualityoftrainingduringthedrivers’courses,experienceofthedriver,etc.

Abstract
TheRAMseSproject,financedbytheEuropeanCommissionunderthe6thframeworkProgram,hasthepurposeofdevelopingasolarpoweredagriculturalvehicleinordertoreplacetheconventionalvehiclesbasedoninternalcombustionengines(ICE).Inthepresentstudy,wereportacomparisonoflife-cycleemissionbetweentwosystems;aconventionalICEvehicle(ICEV)andtheRAMseSelectricalvehicle(EV).ThestudyhasbeenconductedbydesigningaspecificmodelandusingtheSimaProsoftware.TheresultsshowthattheRAMseSsystemisconsiderablymoreenvironmentallyfriendlythanconventionalICEbasedsystemandthat,specifically,itcanavoidtheemissionofabout23 tonofCO2equperyear.Regardingallotherpollutants,wefoundthattheRAMseSsystemis2.6timesmoreefficientthantheICEV.ThemaincontributiontoemissionsoftheRAMseSsystemisduetothebatterieswhichcontributefora73%ofthetotal.Therefore,furtherimprovementcanbeobtainedwiththeuseofmoreadvancedbatterysystems,notbasedonlead.

Abstract
InEurope,approximately60%ofroadaccidentfatalitiesoccurontwo-laneruralroads.Thus,researchtodevelopandenhanceexplanatoryandpredictivemodelsforthisroadtypecontinuestobeofinterestinmitigatingtheseaccidents.Tothisend,thispaperdescribesanovelandextensivedatacollectionandmodelingefforttodefineaccidentmodelsfortwo-laneroadsectionsbasedonauniquecombinationofexposure,geometry,consistencyandcontextvariablesdirectlyrelatedtothesafetyperformance.Thefirstpartofthepaperdocumentshowthesewereidentifiedforthesegmentationofhighwaysintohomogeneoussections.Next,isadescriptionoftheextensivedatacollectioneffortthatutilizeddifferentialcinematicGPSsurveystodefinethehorizontalalignmentvariables,androadsafetyinspections(RSIs)toquantifytheotherroadcharacteristicsrelatedtosafety.Thefinalpartofthepaperfocusesonthecalibrationofmodelsforestimatingtheexpectednumberofaccidentsonhomogeneoussectionsthatcanbecharacterizedbyconstantvaluesoftheexplanatoryvariables.
SeveralcandidatemodelswereconsideredforcalibrationusingtheGeneralizedLinearModeling(GLM)approach.Afterconsideringthestatisticalsignificanceoftheparametersrelatedtoexposure,geometry,consistencyandcontextfactors,andgoodnessoffitstatistics,19modelswererankedandthreewereselectedastherecommendedmodels.Thefirstofthethreeisabasemodel,withlengthandtrafficastheonlypredictorvariables;sincethesevariablesaretheonlyoneslikelytobeavailablenetwork-wide,thisbasemodelcanbeusedinanempiricalBayesiancalculationtoconductnetworkscreeningforranking“siteswithpromise”ofsafetyimprovement.Theothertwomodelsrepresentthebeststatisticalfitswithdifferentcombinationsofsignificantvariablesrelatedtoexposure,geometry,consistencyandcontextfactors.Thesemultiplevariablemodelscanbeused,withcaution,andinconjunctionwithresultsfromotherstudies,toderiveaccidentmodificationfactorsforthesevariablesfordesignapplications,andinsafetyassessmentforsmallersamplesofsitesforwhichthesevariablescanbeassembledwithrelativeease.

Asakeytechnologyinthefieldofadvancedmanufacturing,anopenarchitecturecontrollerisstudied.Inordertodevelopanopenarchitecturesoftware-CNCsystemonpersonalcomputer(PC)accordingtoopenmodulararchitecturecontrollers(OMAC).First,thesoftwareandhardwareplatformischosenandsoftwarerealizationmethodologyfortheCNCsystemisdetermined.Second,staticmodelingmethodsofanopenarchitecturecontrollerinclusiveofobject-oriented(OO)programmingtechnology,dynamiclinklibrary(DLL)technologyandsystemmodulespartitionareinvestigated.Third,thedynamicalbehavioralmodelingandthedataflowrepresentationofopenarchitecturecontrollerarediscussed,whicharebothdescribedinhierarchyfinitestatemachine(FSM)model.Fourth,areusablesoftwaremodulemodelisestablishedtodevelopsoftwarefunctionmodulelibrary.Finally,a3-axismillingmachinetooltest-bed,namedforHIT-CNC,issuccessfullydesignedbymeansoftheconstructedsoftwarefunctionmodulelibraryandthesystemconfiguringmethod.Theexperimentalresultsshowthat,besidesincreasingthedegreeofreusabilityandopenness,applicationofabove-mentionedmethodologyleadstosignificantdecreaseofdevelopmenttimeaswellasmaintenancecost.
