Infact,theexactlocationinthebrainthatthestrokedamagedcanbepredictiveofwhetherdepressionwillsetin,andofhowseverethemoodchangeswillbe.Peoplemaynotsurviveseverestrokes,andinsomecasesphysicaldisabilitiesmaybepermanent;
but,ontheotherhand,apersonmayrecovercompletelywithnopermanenteffects.Inanycase,one’srecoverytimefromastroke—howlongittakesapersontoreturntonormalphysicalfunctioning—canoftendependlargelyonthestroke’slocation,size,andtype.
