1.BriefIntroduction
HV-5VickersHardnessTesterisanewandhigh-techproductcombiningtheoptical,mechanicalandelectronictechniques.Theinstrumentiswithanovelappearance,goodreliability,operationalfunctionsanddirectviewing,andhenceitisanewtypeVickersandKnoophardnessmeasuringinstrument,whichisadoptedprecisemechanical,opticalandelectronictechniques.
Theinstrumentisadoptedsuchtechnologyascomputermakingprogramswithsoftwareandopticalmeasuringsystem.Inputtingbysoftkeys,thehardnesstesterhassuchfunctionaschoosingVickersorKnoophardnesstestingmethod,adjustingtheintensityoftestinglightsource,selectingdwelltimeoftestforce.Thetestingdatasuchasthetestingmethod,thesynchronousshiftoftestforcevalueandVickersscale,thehardnessexchangecanbeshowedonitsLCDscreen,besidesitcanbeinputtedthelengthofdiagonallineofindentationbykeysonoperatingboard,andthenreadoutthehardnessvaluefromthescreendirectlysoastofreefromcheckingthetables.Thereforetheinstrumentiseasyinusageandhighinmeasuringaccuracy.
TheinstrumentissuitablefortotestVickershardnessvalueofthemicroandthinpieces,thepartsaftersurfacetreatingwithpermeatingandcoating,anditisalsofitfortomeasureKnoophardnessvalueforcrispandhardmaterialsuchasglass,ceramics,agate,man-madepreciousstone,therefore,itisanidealhardnessmeasuringinstrumentforthescientificresearchinstitutes,industrialenterprisesandthemetrologicalinstitutesusingwithforstudyingandmeasuring.

3.2UnpackingandInstallation
3.2.1Loosenoffthe4nutsfromthebottomofpackingbox,thenholduptheupperpartofpackingboxandmoveitoff,takeouttheaccessorieskit;
3.2.2Raisethebottomboardofpackingboxup,screwoffthe2M10boltswithwrenchfromit,andlettheinstrumentleaveoffthebottomboard.
3.2.3Placetheinstrumentonthesolidworkingtable,makeaholeatproperlocationonworkingtableenabletheLeadScrewcanworkinorder.(Fig1)

3.2.6OpentheUpperCover(8),untieallthegauzebandswrappedontheleverrod,andthenre-covertheUpperCover.
3.2.7TakeouttheTestingTable(4)fromaccessorieskit,andputitintotheholeoftheLeadScrew(3).
3.2.8Takeoffthedust-protectingcoverandinsertoneendoftheMicroEyepiece(6)intotheholeofeyepiece-tubeandpushittotheend.
3.3InstallationofWeightGroup(seeFig3)
3.3.1OpentheBackCover(10),untiegauzebandswrappedbetweentheHangingRod(21)andtheForkShapedFrame(22),takeouttheweightgroupfromaccessorieskit,andcleantheweights.RotatetheHandWheel(11)topositionof0.3kgf(2.94N);
enabletheForkShapedFrame(22)athorizontallevel.
3.3.2PutWeight1(23),Weight2(24)andWeight3(25)onthreeForkShapedFrames(22)respectivelyinproperorder,andthenturntheHandWheel(11)topositionof10kgf(98N).WhenWeightsareimpending,theyshouldnottouchwithinsidewalloftheForkShapedFrames(22).TurntheHandWheel(11)inoppositedirectiontopositionof0.3kgf(2.94N),andthenobservethecylindricalpinsonbothsideofweightsandseeiftheyareproperlyplacedintothegrooveoftheForkShapedFrames(22).Thenre-covertheBackCover(10).

3.5Usageofthehardnesstester
3.5.1ConnecttheinstrumentwithpowersourceandturnthePowerSwitch(12)on,thenthemainscreenlightupandshowtheoperatingpage(Fig4),atthistime,itmayrevisethedata.
Forexample:
pressKeystoselectthehardnessscalesHVorHK;
hardnessexchange;
dwelltimeoftestforceandluminosityoflamptomeettherequirement.
3.5.2RotatetheHandWheel(11)toselectthetestforceofrequirement.ThevalueoftestforceonHandWheel(11)shouldbeassameasthevalueoftestforceshowedonscreen.TheHandWheel(11)shouldberotatedcarefullyandslowly.WhenrotatetoplaceforvalueofMax.Testforce10kgf(98N),atthispoint,thepositionisattheendandcouldnottorotateforwardcontinuously,youshouldrotatetheHandWheelinoppositedirection.Asthesameprinciple,whenrotatetotheplaceforvalueofMin.Testforce0.3kgf(2.94N),youshouldrotatetheHandWheelinoppositedirectionaswell.
3.5.310Sisthemostusuallydwelltimeofloadingtouse.AccordingtorequirementtorevisethedwelltimebypressingD+orD-key.Eachpressingfor1second,pressD+toaddandpressD-toshorten.
3.5.4Iflightsourceofvisionfieldistoobrightordark,pressL+orL-toadjust.
3.5.5TurntheRotatingPlate(18)toenable20×

3.5.7Ifrequiretoobservealargervisionfieldonspecimen,turnthe10╳Objective(13)tofrontposition,thegeneralamplificationoflightpathsystemis100╳,anditisattheobservationstate.
Note:
Whenirregular-shapedspecimenistobetested,takemorecarefultoavoidtheIndenterisdamagedduetothetouchingbetweentheIndenterandspecimen.
3.5.8TurntheIndenter(5)tofrontposition;
youshouldhaveasensethattheRotatingPlate(18)hasbeenpositioned.TheIndentershouldbeturnedcarefullyandslowlytoavoidtheconcussioncausedbypromptaction.Atthispoint,thedistancebetweenthetipofIndenterandplaneofspecimenfocusedisabout0.3~0.45mm.
3.5.9PressSTRKey,atthistime,thetestforceisapplying(motorisstarted),thescreenappears“LOAD”,whichshowsthetestforceisloading.“DWELL”meanstokeepthetestforce.Itshows“10,9,8……0”seconds,backcountingtime.“UNLOAD
