LuXunisoneofthegreatestChinesewritersofthe20th
century.Besideshisfamousstories,healsowrotemanyinfluentialarticlesaboutthelivingconditionsofChinesepeople.

AfterworkingforseveralyearsasateacherinBeijing,LuXunagainreturnedtowriting.In1918,hewrotehisfamousshortstoryDiaryofaMadman.ItwasthefirstChinesenovelpublishedusingtheeverydaylanguagethatpeoplespoke,whichhelpedmakeitagreatsuccess.
This,togetherwithhisnovelTheTrueStoryofAhQ(1921),madeLuXunaleadingChinesewriter.
Althoughsuccessful,LuXunstillworriedgreatlyaboutChina’sfuture.In1926,hemovedtoShanghaiandgaveupwritingstoriesinordertodevotehimselftowhathecalled“penwarfare”.Henowonlywrotearticleswhichcalledonthepeopletofightagainstthegovernment.Forthis,thegovernmentstoppedhimfrompublishinganymorebooks.Hewasforcedtowritehisarticlesusingfalsenames.
