TheDJIPhantom2Vision+isanautonomousandself-drivendrone.TheAppisconnectedtothedronethroughWi-Fi.Beforetakeoff,theAppsendstothedronetheGPSpositionofapredefinednumberofwaypoints.Duringflight,thedronewillfollowthesewaypoints.TheAppsendsasignaltothedroneusingtheWi-Fieachtimeanimageshouldbetaken.
∙Wi-Ficonnectionwiththedroneisrequired.IftheWi-Ficonnectionisbroken,imagesarenottakenanymore.Howeverthedronecontinuesthemissionasthewaypointsaresavedonthedronebeforetakeoff.
∙GoodGPSsignalisrequired.IfthedronemisreadstheGPScoordinatesinternally,itmightflyawayinarandomdirection.ThishappenswhenthedroneisflyinginanenvironmentwheretheGPSsignalgetsinterferences.ForexampleitmayhappenifthedronefliesclosetolargemetallicstructuresorinareaswheretheGPSsignalbouncesbackonobjectssuchashighbuildings.Manualcontrolisrequiredtogetbackthedrone.
∙Obstacles:
Ensurethatnoobstacleisbetweenthedronehome/takeoffpointandtheflightaltitudeduringtakeofforlanding.
∙Battery:
Asthebatterylifetimedependsonmultiplefactorssuchaswind,altitude,temperature,etc.,itisimpossibletopredictthelifetimeofthebattery.IftheAppisconnectedtothedronethroughtheWi-Fiandthebatteryisunder20%,thedroneflieshome.Manualcontrolmightberequiredatthatstage.
Important:
∙Chooseacleartakeoff/landingzoneofatleast10x10metersthatcangeteasilyGPSsignal.
∙Beforetakingoff,checkthat:
∙Thedrone,remotecontrollerandrangeextenderbatteriesarecharged.
∙Thepropellersarecorrectlymounted.
∙Thepropellers/enginearefunctioning.
∙Donotflyovercrowds.
∙Respectyourregionalandnationalflightregulations.
Step2.Preparethemission⤴
Thereare2
typesofmissions:
∙GridMission:
Recommendedformostoftheenvironments.Itensuresthattheimagesaretakenwiththeoptimaloverlaprequiredtogetaccurate3Dmodelsandmaps.
∙FreeFlightMission:
Recommendedtomapmoredifficultobjects(e.g.sidesofhouses,towers,pylons,bridges,etc).Itrequirestopilotthedroneandtounderstandhowtoflyanoptimalflightpath.
PrepareaGridMission⤴
Thegridmissioniswellsuitedformostoftheenvironments.Itensuresthattheimagesaretakenwiththeoptimaloverlaprequiredtogetaccurate3Dmodelsandmaps.Toprepareagridmission:

2.(optional)Inthehomescreen,click
Settings
andchangetheoverlapbetweentheimagesaswellastheangleofthecamera.

Tip:
∙IfyouareconnectedtotheInternet,abackgroundmapisdisplayed.
∙Themissioncanalsobepreparedinyouroffice.ThedisplayedmapiscachedandwillbeavailablewhenstartingthemissioninanareawithoutInternetconnection.
4.(Optional)Ontheleftofthescreen,selectthedesiredflightaltitude.
5.Placethegridovertheareaofinterest.Tomovethegrid,presswiththefingerinthemiddleofthegridanddragit.Torotatethegrid,presswiththefingerononeofthearrowsontheborderofthegridandrotateit.Toresizethegrid,presswiththefingerononeofthesmallsquaresonthegridborderanddragit.
Note:
∙Gridsize:
Thedefaultgridsettings(50x50meters)defineasmallflightofabout5-10minutesthatworksinalmostallconditions.Byincreasingthegrid,theflighttimeisincreasedaswell.Ensurethatyouhaveenoughbatteryifyouincreasethegridsize.Thebatterylifetimedependsonmanyfactorssuchaswind,temperature,ageofthebattery,etc.
∙Gridcolor:
Thegridisdisplayedingreenaslongasthesizeisoptimaltoperformaflightwithafullychargedbattery.Ifthegridsizebecomesslightlytoolargesuchthattheremightbenotenoughbatterytoperformthewholemission,thegridisdisplayedinyellow.Ifthegridistoosmalltoensuregoodquality3Dmodelsandmapsitisdisplayedinyellowaswell.Ifthegridistoolargetobeflownwithafullychargedbattery,itisdisplayedinred.Inthiscaseitisrecommendednottoflyandtogivethegridabettersize.

Step3.Startthemission⤴
Oncethegridmissionhasbeenprepared,itcanbestarted.
1.Placethedroneinaclearareaofatleast10by10metersthatcangeteasilyGPSsignal.
2.TurnontheWi-Firangeextenderoftheremotecontrol.
3.Turnontheremotecontrol.
TURNONTHEREMOTECONTROLbeforeflying.Ifitisnotturnedonyoucannotgobacktomanualcontrolofthedrone.Manualcontrolofthedroneistheonlywaytorecoveradronethatfliesawayortoavoidobstacles.
4.Turnonthedrone.
5.Verifythatyoucanstartandstopthepropellersmanually.
6.SettheS1switchtothetopposition.

10.Verifythatallsecuritychecksthataredisplayedaregreen.Ifyes,thedronecantakeoff.Ifnot,solveeachsecurityissueuntilitbecomesgreen.Formoreinformationonhowtosolvethesecurityissues:

11.Press3secondsonthebutton
.Thedroneicon
nexttothebuttongoesup.Whenitreachesthetopofthepop-up,thedronewilltakeoffwithinafewseconds.
Thereare2waystostartamission:
1.Placethedroneonthegroundandstartthemission.
2.Flythedronemanuallyandwhenitislessthan150mfromthecenterofthegrid,startthemission.
Whenthedroneistakesoff,itfliesverticallyuptothealtitudeofthemissionandthengoestothefirstwaypoint.
12.Duringthemission:
∙Keepyourhandsontheremotecontrol.
∙Keepvisualcontrolofthedrone.
Incaseofdanger,flipdowntheS1switchoftheremotecontrol.Thiswillswitchtomanualmodeandyoucantakebackcontrolofthedroneusingtheremotecontrol.
Duringthemission:
∙Themapviewdisplaysthecurrentpositionofthedrone.Itallowstokeeptrackofthemission.
∙Whenthedronereachesthemissionaltitude,checkthatthecameraispointingdown.Itcanhappenthatthegimbalisnotproperlyinitializedandthatthecameraisnotlookingdown.Ifthecameraisnotlookingdown,theresultswillnotbeoptimal.Thegimbalcanbemanuallychangedduringflightbygoingtothecameraviewandpressingthedownarrow.Formoreinformationaboutthecameraview:
∙Thewaypointsareuploadedtothedroneatthestartofthemission.ThesignaltotakeapictureissendfromtheAppduringthemission.IfthereisanissuewiththeApporthedevice,thedronefinishesitsmissionbyfollowingthewaypoints.However,noimagesaretakenandthemissionhastoberedone.
13.Attheendofthemission,thedronecomesbacktothehomepoint
andlandsautomatically.Whenthedronetouchestheground,itstopsaftersomeseconds.
DuetotheGPSinaccuracy,thedronemightlandafewmetersawayfromthestartingpoint.Ifthedroneislandinginaplacewhereitshouldnotland,puttheS1switchdownandlandthedronemanually.
Whenthedroneislanding,youcancatchitfromthebottomandholditinasteadyposition.Thepropellerswillturnoffautomaticallyafterafewseconds.
Step4.Synchronizethemissionwiththedevice⤴
1.Attheendofthemission,whenthedronecomesbackandlands,theimagesonthedronearesynchronizedwiththeApp.Duringthisprocess,accurateimagegeolocationiswrittenintotheimageEXIFdata.Donotturnoffthedroneandtherangeextenderuntilthesynchronizationiscompleted.
2.(optional)Imagesynchronizationcanbeabortedandrestartedlater.Toabortsynchronization,closethesynchronizationwindow.Formoreinformationonhowtorestartthesynchronizationlater:

Step5.Getaquick3Dpreview⤴
Oncethemissionissynchronizedtothedevice,itcanbeuploadedtoyourPix4DUserAccounttogetaquick3Dpreview.
