一、选题的目的及意义、本课题研究的基本内容:
1.SignificanceandPurpose
Tablemannerisanimportantpartofcross-culturalcommunication.ChineseandWesternpeoplehavebeendeeplyinfluencedbydifferentsocialcultures,historicalculturesandvarioussocialbackgrounds,sotwodifferentculturesbetweenChinaandWesterncountriesgenerate,andthentableculturearisessofastatthehistoricmoment.Tablemannercultureisapartofthedietculture,andthedifferencesofdietculturecomposedthesignificantpartofdifferencesbetweenChinaandwesterncultures.Forforeignlanguagelearners,learningthedifferencesandtheoriginoftablemannersbetweenChinaandtheWest,notonlycanweenhancetheunderstandingofthetargetlanguageculture,butalsocanperformwellduringcross-culturalcommunication.
With
the
development
of
China,
more
and
Western
cultures
get
into
oursight.Aswefacewithunfamiliarculturesandcountries,someinevitableculturalconflictsmighthappeninthecommunication,whichwillseriouslyaffectthecontactsbeingcarriedoutsmoothly.TablemannerhasadecisivepositioninthecommunicationbetweenChinaandWesterncountries.Duringcommunicationwewillshowourbestimagesandavoidculturalconflicts.
2.MainContent
Tablemannerplaysanimportantroleincross-culturalcommunication.Chinaisacountrywhichhasalonghistory,andhasitsuniquecharmintheetiquetteculture.Tablemannerisquitesignificant,becausetablemannerisausefulapproachtointroduceourownnationalculture.
ThethesisintroducestheoriginanddevelopmentoftablemannerbetweenChinaandtheWest,comparesthedifferencesoftablemannersbetweenChinaandtheWestincludingseatsarrangement,dinnerware,theorderofserving,thediningatmosphereandtablelanguage.Andthen,thethesisexposesthereasonsforthedifferencesoftablemannersbetweenChinaandtheWest,thatare,thedifferencesofChineseandWesternculturalconnotation,thedifferencesofChineseandWesternwayofthinking,thedifferencesofChineseandWesternvalues.ThethesistellsustheattitudesthatweshouldholdtothedifferencesoftablemannersbetweenChinaandWest.
Inaword,therearesomanyexcellentculturesinChina,soweshouldinheritandcarryforwardourexcellentculture.Ofcourse,wealsoneedtoacceptandlearnforeignexcellentculture,namely“getridofshortcoming,takeinadvantage.”InChina’srapideconomicgrowth,weshouldimproveourculturalsoftpowersothatenhanceourcomprehensivenationalstrength.
