OnFebruary19,1985,aB-747SP,flownbyaChinaAirlinesCapt.,sufferedanenginefailurewhilecruisingat41,000ft.TheCapt.leftitonautopilottoolong.Theautopilottriedtomaintainthataltitude,whichwasimpossibleatthatweight,withonly3enginesfunctioning.Asitapproachedthestall,becausethespeedkeptdecelerating,theCapt.finallydisconnectedtheautopilot.Hewasnotprepared,becausehehadfailedtotriminruddertocompensatefortheasymmetricalthrustcondition;
