Intheageofdigitalinformation,audiodatahasbecomeanimportantpartinmanymoderncomputerapplications.Audioclassificationhasbeenbecomingafocusintheresearchofaudioprocessingandpatternrecognition.Automaticaudioclassificationisveryusefultoaudioindexing,content-basedaudioretrievalandon-lineaudiodistribution,butitisachallengetoextractthemostcommonandsalientthemesfromunstructuredrawaudiodata.Inthispaper,weproposeeffectivealgorithmstoautomaticallyclassifyaudioclipsintooneofsixclasses:
music,news,sports,advertisement,cartoonandmovie.Forthesecategoriesanumberofacousticfeaturesthatincludelinearpredictivecoefficients,linearpredictivecepstralcoefficientsandmel-frequencycepstralcoefficientsareextractedtocharacterizetheaudiocontent.Supportvectormachinesareappliedtoclassifyaudiointotheirrespectiveclassesbylearningfromtrainingdata.Thentheproposedmethodextendstheapplicationofneuralnetwork(RBFNN)fortheclassificationofaudio.RBFNNenablesnonlineartransformationfollowedbylineartransformationtoachieveahigherdimensioninthehiddenspace.Theexperimentsondifferentgenresofthevariouscategoriesillustratetheresultsofclassificationaresignificantandeffective.

Abstract
Bacterialfood-borneinfectionsinhumanscausedbySalmonellaspp.areconsideredacrucialfoodsafetyissue.Therefore,itisimportantfortheriskassessmentsofSalmonellatoconsiderthegenomicvariationamongdifferentisolatesinordertocontrolpathogen-inducedinfections.Microarraytechnologyisapromisingdiagnostictoolthatprovidesgenomicinformationonmanygenessimultaneously.However,standardizationofDNAmicroarrayanalysisisneededbeforeitcanbeusedasaroutinemethodforcharacterizingSalmonellaisolatesacrossbordersandlaboratories.AcomparativestudywasdesignedinwhichtheagreementofdatafromaDNAmicroarrayassayusedfortypingSalmonellaspp.betweentwodifferentlabswasassessed.Thestudywasexpectedtorevealthepossibilityofobtainingthesameresultsindifferentlabsusingdifferentequipmentinordertoevaluatethereproducibilityofthemicroarraytechniqueasafirststeptowardsstandardization.Thelow-densityarraycontains28157–60-meroligonucleotideprobesfordetectingawiderangeofspecificgenomicmarkergenesassociatedwithantibioticresistance,cellenvelopestructures,mobilegeneticelementsandpathogenicity.Severalcriticalmethodologyparametersthatdifferedbetweenthetwolabswereidentified.Theserelatedtoprintingfacilities,choiceofhybridizationbuffer,washbuffersusedfollowingthehybridizationandchoiceofprocedureforpurifyinggenomicDNA.Criticalparameterswererandomizedinafour-factorialexperimentandstatisticalmeasuresofinter-labconsistencyandagreementwereperformedbasedonthekappacoefficient.Ahighlevelofagreement(kappa = 0.7–1.0)inmicroarrayresultswasobtainedevenwhenemployingdifferentprintingandhybridizationfacilities,differentproceduresforpurifyinggenomicDNAanddifferentwashbuffers.However,lessagreement(Kappa = 0.2–0.6)betweenmicroarrayresultswereobservedwhenusingdifferenthybridizationbuffers,indicatingthisparameterasbeinghighlycriticalwhentransferringastandardmicroarrayassaybetweenlaboratories.Inconclusion,thisstudyindicatesthatDNAmicroarrayassayscanbereproducedinatleasttwodifferentfacilities,whichisapre-requisiteforthedevelopmentofstandardguidelines.

Thewide-scalepublicandgovernmentalpressuretoreducetheemissionsofgreenhousegassesindevelopednationshasthepotentialtothreatenthefuturegrowthandprofitabilityofenergyintensiveindustries.Becauseofthisnewparadigm,agroupof20majoroil&gas,power,fertilizerandchemicalproducersinCanadajoinedforcesin2005toformtheIntegratedCO2Network(ICO2N)groupofcompanies.ThisgrouprecognizedthatdevelopingCO2captureandstorage(CCS)withinavisionofalong-term,large-scaleintegratedsystemwouldensurethatthetechnologyisdevelopedasquicklyandcost-effectivelyaspossible,andwouldencouragecontinuedeconomicgrowthdecoupledfromincreasesingreenhousegas(GHG)emissions.
