Abstract
Foodisthenecessitiesinpeople’sdailylife.Itisthepremisewhenpeopledealwithallthesocialactivities.MoreandmoreattentionisattachedtothedifferencesbetweenChineseandwesternfoodculture,asaimportantpartforcommunicatingwithwesternworld.
First,thewriterintroducestheimportanceofdietinthethesis.Foodranksthefirstinallourneeds.Then,thethesisdiscussesthedefinitionoffoodculture.ThenthethesisintroducesthedifferencesbetweenChineseandwesternfoodculture,havethedifferenceofideaaboutfoodthedifferencesofcookingskillthedifferenceoffoodspeopleeatandtherearedifferenttablemannerswhichincludesseating,tablearrangementsatmosphereandtableware,thelastexampleofculturaldifferencesbetweenChineseandWesternrestaurantsunderthecareofthecustomerreception,listmytradecompanyinthereceptionofforeignmadeWesternclientsinallaspectsofthearrangement,andwhytodo,Infaceofthesedifferences,weshouldcomprehendandrespecttheirhabitsandculture.

摘要
食物是人们日常生活的必需品,是人们的一切社会活动的前提。
越来越多的关注重视中西饮食文化的差异,作为与西方世界沟通的重要组成部分。
首先,在本文中作者介绍了饮食的重要性。
在我们所有的粮食需求排名第一。
然后,本文讨论了饮食文化的定义。
也就是说,饮食文化是物质和精神财富的创造人在长期的粮食生产和消费的总和。
然后,论文介绍了中西饮食文化的差异,有不同的想法,不同的烹饪方法,吃的不同的食物,还有不同的餐桌礼仪其中包括座位、餐桌氛围和餐具的安排,最后举例说明中西饮食文化差异关照下的客户接待,列出笔者所在外贸公司在接待西方客户上做出的各方面的安排,以及为什么这样做。
在这些差异面前,我们应该理解和尊重他们的习惯和文化。

Chapter1Introduction
Foodisthemostimportantmaterialinmaintainingourlifeandimprovingthequalityofourbodies,andisbasicforthedevelopmentaswell.Foodissofundamentaltoourlifesothatalltheotheraspectsofourlivingaredeterminedbyit,builtonit,andlimitedbyit.
Sincethehumanbeingcookwithfireforthefirsttimeandcometoacivilianage,thefoodweeathasbeguntobeofculturalproperty.Itisnotahistoryofsub-humaneatinganddrinking,butahistoryinwhichthehumanbeingconquersthenature,changethenature,andgetadaptedtonaturetoexistanddevelop.
Andinthishistoricprocess,thehumangraduallyformeditsfoodculture.Foodasacategoryofculture,helpsustounderstandeveryareaoftheorientalandoccidentalworld.WithChineseentrytotheworld,plentyofthingswhicharefreshtous,atonceflocktoourcountry.Amongthem,ofcourse,foodcultureofothernationscomeintoourtoo.Nowadays,manypeopleoutofcuriosity,tastedifferencesortoffoodofothercountries.Butfewofthemthesepeoplereallygrasptheessenceofthefoodculture.Whilethefoodofoneplacecanreflectitsculture,soitisnecessaryforustolearnthedifferencesbetweenChineseandwesternfoodculture.
Foodcultureisanimportantpartofhumanculture.Ithastwodefinitionsinbroadsenseandnarrowsense.Inthebroadsense,foodculturehassomethingincommonwithcookingculture,anditisconsideredasthecounterpartofthelatter.Generallyspeaking,cookingculturereferstothetotalamountofmaterialandspirittreasurewhichiscreatedandaccumulatedduringthelongperiodoffoodproductionandprocessionbythehumanbeing.Itisaboutwhatfoodhumanmakes,andhowtomake.Itincludesthefoodingredient,cookingtool,cookingskillandsoon.
Inthenarrowsense,foodculturereferstothesum-upofmaterialandspirittreasurecreatedandpasseddowninthelongperiodofhumaneatingthefoodproduct.Itisaboutwhathumaneat,andhowtoeatandwhyeatsuchfoodetc.Itincludesthevarietyoffood,thetoolusesineating,thecustomsofeating,andtheserviceofeatingact.
Inaword,cookingculturecometobirthinthecourseoffoodproductionandprocession.Itisaproductionculture,whilefoodcultureinthenarrowsenseisakindofconsumingculture,whichcometobirthinthecourseoffoodconsuming.Theproductionandtheconsumingistightlyconnectedtoeachother.Ifthereisnocookingculture,theywillbenofoodculture.Thefirstoneisthepremiseofthelatter.Thelatterisderivedfromthefirstone.Thus;

Chapter2TheDifferencesBetweenChineseAndWesternFoodCulture
Chinahasalonghistoryof5000years,whilethewesthasoneofaboutsixhundredyears.Chinahasafoodculturethatiscolorful,profoundandexcellent,whilethewesthasitsownspecialculture.Nowthewriterwouldliketotalkaboutthedifferencesbetweenthesetwoculturesfromthefollowingaspects.
2.1TheDifferenceOfIdeaAboutFood
WhatChinesepeoplecareaboutisthedeliciousnessoffood.Theyemphasizetheideaofusingsomecookingskillstouniteandharmonizethetastesoffoodswhichhavedifferentnaturalproperties,Chinesepeoplevaluethesimilarityofdifferentthings.Accordingtotheirtraditionalidea,theytendtoseektherelationshipbetweentwodifferentobjects,andmakethemchangetoeachother.Sotheyvaluetheunityofdifferenttastesandtheyalwaystrytoharmonizefoodofdifferentnaturalpropertiesintoone.
Forexample,inShandongdishes,porkandsoybeanoilareinterdependentandtheircombinationcanalmostmakealldishesbeoffantasticsmellofporkandcolorofsoybean.Itthusmakefoodofdifferentnaturesgetunification.Sowesee,mediocrityisthethemeofChinesecookingculture.
Sincethewesternersbelieveinseparationoftheuniverseandhumanintheirculturalspiritandthinkingmodel,emphasizetheformandstructureandvaluetheclearness,theyformaspecialideaaboutthefoodscience.Theveryideaisthatecologicalbeliefinseparationoftheuniverseandhumanworld,properideaofbalancednutrient.Intheiropinion,oneshouldchoosehisfoodonlyaccordingtohisneedasanindependentindividualandthebalancedrequirementofallkindsofnutrientsforeachpartofhisbody.Theyconsideritisimportanttomakethepropermatchoffoodbythecriterionofvarietyandquantity.Throughcookingoftherawmaterials,theydisplaythenicetasteofallkindsofmaterials.Whattheywantistomeetthephysiologicalneedofthebody.Forexample,thetasteofcrablobsterandseafishlivecompletelydifferent,thewesternerswilldefinitelynotmixthetastesofthemwhentheypreparethedishwiththem.

Thewesternersemphasizenutritionandbalancedintheirdiet,sotheypreparetheirfoodaccordingtoscientificinstructionsstrictlywithoutanyexception.Thetasteofthesteakdoesn’tdifferfromNewYorktoLosAngels`anditsotheringredients,withoutanydoubtaretomatoes,potatoes,andvegetableleaves.Moreover,normalizedcookingrequiresthatthecondimentsshouldbeaddedpreciselybygram,andthelengthoftimeneedstobecalculatedbyseconds.
2.3TheDifferenceofFoodsPeopleEat
Wecanenjoythefoodculture,ofwhichthepremiseconditionisthefood,withoutfood,wearenotabletocookandeatandexist.Chinesedishesareconnectedtightlytovegetables.Chinesepeopleeatvariousvegetableswhichareupto600kindsinnumber,6timesasmanyasthewesternersdo.Asamatteroffact,inChinesediet,vegetablesisarathercommonfood.Onlyinfestivalsorinthetimewhenlifeconditionisimproveddotheyeatmoremeat.Duetothisvegetariancharacteristicsindietstructure,Chinesepeoplearesometimesregardedtobeofplantcharacter,whenthischaracterisreflectedintheculture,wecanseethatChinesepeoplevaluereunionandtheyareattachedtotheirhometownandarenotwillingtoleave.Thewesternersaredifferent,theyaredescendantofnomadictribesandnavigationpeoplesintheirculturalorigin.theirancestorlivedmainlybyfishing,huntingandfeedingdomesticanimalsandsometimesalsobycollectingandcultivation.Sotheyatemoremeatintheirdiet.Duetothis,thewesternersareconsideredbysomepeopletobeofanimalcharacter.Asaresult,thewesternersliketoperuseindividualityandlikeadventureandexploration.
2.4TheDifferenceOfTableManners
