MyEnglishimprovedalotasIusedEnglisheverydayandspentanhoureachdayreadingEnglishbooksinthelibrary.IusuallywenttotheComputerClubduringthelunchbreak,soIcouldsende-mailstomyfamilyandfriendsbackhomeforfree.IalsohadanextraFrenchclassonTuesdayevenings.CookingwasreallyfunasIlearnedhowtobuy,prepareandcookfood.Attheendoftermweheldaclasspartyandweallhadtocooksomething.IwasgladthatallmyclassmateswerefondofthecakethatImade.
StudentsatthatschoolhavetostudyMaths,EnglishandScience,butcanstopstudyingsomesubjectsiftheydon’tlikethem,forexample,HistoryandFrench.TheycanchooseothersubjectslikeArtandComputerScience,orLanguagessuchasSpanishandGerman.InArtclassthatItook,Imadeasmallsculpture.Thoughitdidnotlookverybeautifulwhenitwasfinished,Istilllikeditverymuch.
ImissedChinesefoodalotatlunch.Britishfoodisverydifferent.Britishpeoplelikeeatingdessertsattheendoftheirmainmeal.Afterlunch,weusuallyplayedontheschoolfield.SometimesIplayedfootballwiththeboys.SometimesIjustrelaxedunderatreeorsatonthegrass.
Iwasveryluckytoexperiencethisdifferentwayoflife.IlookbackonmytimeintheUKwithsatisfaction.AndIreallyhopetogobackandstudyinManchesteragain.

Startinganewschoolclub>
Wehavearadioclubinourschool.Itisgreatbecauseitisrunbythestudentsfortheschool.IamluckyasIamoneofthehosts.
Itwasstartedtwoyearsago.Oneday,Ijustbeganthinkingaboutmusicforeveryone,soIaskedtheheadmasterifmusiccouldbeplayedduringbreaktimes.Heapprovedtheidea,andtwoyearslaterIaminchargeoftheradioclubastheoldeststudentmember.Ourclubismuchmorethanjustmusic.Everymorningwetellourschoolmatesabouttheweather,recentnews,andsomespecialmessagesthattheteacherswantustobroadcast.
Duringexamtimewehaveaspecialprogrammethattellsstudentsthethingstheyshoulddoforpreparation.Attheendoftheschoolyear,manystudentswhoaregraduatinguseourclubtogivemessagestotheirclosefriendsandteachers.
Whenparentscometovisittheschoolandtalktotheteachers,weoftenplaysongssungbystudents,andwealsogivemessagestoinformtheparentsofeventssuchasoutingsandschoolplays.

isaliteraryclubthatwasstartedbyourEnglishteacherMr.Owen.WemeetonthelastFridayofeverymonthtotalkaboutpoemsandpoetsthatwelike.Intheclubmeetings,wefirstselectpoemsthatwelove,andthenreadthemaloud.Wealsodiscusspoemsinourmeetings.
WhenIattendedthefirstmeeting,IwasrequiredtowriteapoemandIhadtoreadittotheclub.Iwasalittlenervousatfirst,buteveryonewassoniceandfriendlythatIsoonstoppedworrying.Ioncereadapoemaboutnatureintheschoolcourtyard.IchoseanoldtreeandgatheredeveryoneunderitbeforeIread.Theclubmemberssaiditwasoneofthebestcompositionstheyhadheard.(BobShaw)

yet,inotherways,likearacecar,lifeseemstoberushingtoofastandevengoingoutofcontrol.Hasanyoneelseeverfeltthisway?
Thesefeelingsareacommonpartofadolescence—thetimeoflifebetweenchildandadult.Andthoughitmaysometimesbedifficulttobelieve,youarenotalone—everyadulthasgonethroughadolescence,andyourfriendsaregoingthroughitrightnowalongwithyou.Itiscommonforteenagerstofeellonelyandmisunderstood.Thesefeelingscanbethoughtofasgrowingpains—thedifficultiesthatteenagersfaceastheygrowtoadults.
