“ARoseforEmily”isaclassicstoryrepresentingFaulkner’sfavoritesubject,themeandstyle.ThestoryissetinthetownofJeffersoninhisimaginaryYoknapatawphaCounty,the“mythicalkingdom”.ThestorybeginswithafuneraloftheeponymousMissEmily.Itdoesnotfollowaparticularorderofchronologicaltime.Thenarrationflowsbackwardsorforwardsinalineofreality,revealingsignificantdetailsofEmily’slifeandthemurderoftheHomerBarronbyEmily,whicharesuspendedtilltheendofthestory.Thenarrativeisalsodividedintofiveparts,allowingforflexibleshiftsintimeanddisplaysofEmily’simageatvariousstagesofherlife.ThroughthestoryaboutEmily,theauthortriestopinpointanunavoidablefateofthearistocracyandvariouschangesintheSouthAmericaaftertheCivilWar.
