In1884,theprincebuilthisownmuseumtoshowoffhiscollection.Whenthemuseumclosedin1976,thepieceswentintostorage（贮藏）.

“Thereappearanceofsuchacollectionisaveryimportantevent,”saidarthistorianSalvatoreSettis.“WhenIfirstsawthem,theywereveryemotionalbecauseIknewmostofthosepiecesfrombooks,butIhadneverseenthem.”

TheTorloniafamilychoseSettistohelpwiththedifficultjobofdecidingwhichworksshouldbeshowntothepublic.AnnaMariaCarrubahelpedpreparethestatuesfortheshow.“Manyofthesepieceswerealreadyrestoredfrom（theyear）1600onwards.Wedidn’tneedtoworkonthestructureofthestatuesbutonlyonthesurfaces,cleaningthem,”shesaid.
