ViktorNordmark,fromSweden,startedthecompanyin2015,withseveralfriends.BeforecreatingHubert,thefoundersaskedteacherswhatwouldimprovetheirteachingskills.Theanswer,Nordmarksaid,wasqualitative(定性的)feedbackfromtheirstudents.Inotherwords,teacherswantedstudentstowritedetailedanswerstoopen-endedquestionsabouttheirexperiencesinclass.
Qualitativefeedbackisdifferentfromthesurveyresponses,whichstudentsareoftenaskedtoprovideattheendofaclass.“Thiskindofdatatakesalotoftimeforprofessorstocollectandanalyze,”Nordmarksaid.Andforthestudents,itcanalsobe“reallyboringtofillout.”SoNordmarkandhisfriendsdesignedHubertasacompromisebetweenatraditionalsurveyandapersonalinterview.“Youcanreachareallylargecrowd,butyoucanalsogetreallyqualitativedataback,”Nordmarksaid.
Now,whenHubertreceivescommentsfromstudents,itcomparesthemwiththeinformationalreadyinitssystemtoorganizethedata.NordmarksaysthatHubertwillcontinuetogetsmarterasitreceivesmorecommentsinthefuture.Nordmarksaysheandhisco-foundershaveplanstomakeHubertmoreflexibleandaccurate.Theyhopetogiveteachersthepossibilityofselectingtheirownevaluationquestions.
