Ihavemyhealth,IfeelgoodandIaminlovewithmywifejustasIwaswhenwefirstmet.

3.TheBlessingTree
Ihadgoneintoasupervisor’sofficetotalkaboutacoupleofissuesthatneededtobeaddressed.She,likeallofthemenandwomeninherdepartment,hadbeenthroughtheproverbial“ringer.”Thestresswassointense,onecouldalmosttasteit.
Ihadbeenassistingthedepartmentduringacrunchperiodofbeingveryshort-handed,andwaswatchingeveryonegetclosetoburn-out.WhenIinquiredaboutherstateofmind,sheconfessedthatherhomelifewasalmostnon-existant,becauseshewas“zombieingthroughtheevening”.Thenextwordsoutofhermouthexpressedafrustrationofmyown:
“ThisworkisnotmygiftfromGod.Myfamilyis!
Ihadheardofhangingallofone’sproblemsfromtheofficeona“TroubleTree”whiledrivinghome,tobepickeduponthewaybacktotheofficeinthemorning,andforabriefsecondthoughtaboutsuggestingthatscenario.Butwhatcameoutwas:
“Whydon’twedosomethingdifferent?
Let’shaveaBlessingTree.
Onthewayhomeintheevening,wecouldpulldownablessingtodwellonacharactertraitweadoreinourspouse,aparticularreasonwelovethem,thelovetheyorourchildrenhaveforus.
Thelistcouldbeendless.”
WhenItrieditonthewayhomethatnight,thestressseemedtomeltaway.Therewasa“springinmystep”andwhenIarrived,asmileofjoyandcontentmentwasbubblingupfromwithin!
Forthefirsttimein2weeks,Iwasoverjoyedtogreetmywifeandchildren!
TheBlessingTreecouldmakeamajordifferenceinyourevenings,especiallyafterthoseREALLYtoughdays.

ThroughtheyearsIwouldguessatwhatIthoughtwasthecorrectanswer.
WhenIwasyounger,Ithoughtsoundwasveryimportanttousashumans,soIsaid,“Myears,Mommy.”
Shesaid,“No.Manypeoplearedeaf.
ButyoukeepthinkingaboutitandIwillaskyouagainsoon.”
Severalyearspassedbeforesheaskedmeagain.
Sincemakingmyfirstattempt,Ihadcontemplatedthecorrectanswer.
SothistimeItoldher,“Mommy,sightisveryimportanttoeverybody,soitmustbeoureyes.”
Shelookedatmeandtoldme,“Youarelearningfast,
buttheanswerisnotcorrectbecausetherearemanypeoplewhoareblind.”
Overtheyears,Motheraskedmeacouplemoretimesandalwaysheranswerwas,
“No,butyouaregettingsmartereveryyear,mychild.”
Thenlastyear,myGrandpadied.Everybodywashurt.
Everybodywascrying.
MyMomlookedatmewhenitwasourturntosayourfinalgood-byetoGrandpa.
Sheaskedme,“Doyouknowthemostimportantbodypartyet,mydear?
Iwasshockedwhensheaskedmethisnow.
Ialwaysthoughtthiswasagamebetweenherandme.
Shesawtheconfusiononmyfaceandtoldme,“Thisquestionisveryimportant.
Itshowsthatyouhavereallylivedyourlife.”
Isawhereyeswellupwithtears.
Shesaid,“Mydear,themostimportantbodypartisyourshoulder.”
Iasked,“Isitbecauseitholdsupyourhead?
Shereplied,“No,itisbecauseitcanholdtheheadofafriendorlovedonewhentheycry.
Everybodyneedsashouldertocryonsometimesinlife,mydear.
Ionlyhopethatyouhaveenoughloveandfriendsthatyouwillhaveashouldertocryonwhenyouneedit.”
ThenandthereIknewthemostimportantbodypartisnotaselfishone.
Itissympathetictothepainofothers.
5.GetaThoroughUnderstandingofOneself彻底认识自我
Inallone’slifetimeitisoneselfthatonespendsthemosttimebeingwithordealingwith.
Butitispreciselyoneselfthatonehastheleastunderstandingof.
Whenyouaregoingupwardsinlifeyoutendtooverestimateyourself.
Whenyouaregoingdownhillyoutendtounderestimateyourself.
It’slikelythatyouthinkitwiseforyourselftoknowyourplaceandstayalooffromworldlywearingamaskofcowardice,
behindwhichtheflowofsapinyourlifewillberetarded.
Togetathoroughunderstandingofoneselfistogainacorrectviewofoneself
andbeasoberrealist—awareofbothone’sstrengthandshortage.
Youmaylookforwardhopefullytothefuturebutbesurenottoexpecttoomuch,foridealscanneverbefullyrealized.
Youmaybecourageoustomeetchallengesbutitshouldbecleartoyouwheretodirectyourefforts.
Togetathoroughunderstandingofoneselfneedsself-appreciation.
Whetheryoulikenyourselftoatoweringtreeorabladeofgrass,
whetheryouthinkyouareahighmountainorasmallstone,
yourepresentastateofnaturethathasitsownreasonofexistence.
Ifyouearnestlyadmireyourselfyou’llhavearealsenseofself-appreciation,whichwillgiveyouconfidence.
Assoonasyougainfullconfidenceinyourselfyou’llbeenabledtofightandovercomeanyadversity.
Togetathoroughunderstandingofoneselfalsorequiresdoingoneselfafavorwhenit’sneeded.
Intimeofanger,doyourselfafavorbygivingventtoitinaquietplacesothatyouwon’tbehurtbyitsflames;
intimeofsadness,doyourselfafavorbysharingitwithyourfriendssoastochangeagloomymoodintoacheerfulone;
intimeoftiredness,doyourselfafavorbygettingagoodsleeportakingsometonic.
Showyourselflovingconcernaboutyourhealthanddailylife.
Unlessyouknowperfectlywellwhenandhowtodoyourselfafavor,
youwon’tbeconfidentandreadyenoughtoresisttheattackofillness.
