2、July20,1969isadaythatwillforevergodowninthehistorybooksasadaythatchangedtheworldforever.ThatwasthedaywhenAmericanastronautandexplorerNeilArmstrongwasthefirstpersontosetfootonthemoon.
Themoonislocatedalmost240,000milesfromtheEarth.Armstrongandhiscrew,whichincludedfellowastronautsMichaelCollinsandEdwin“Buzz”Aldrin,begantheirjourneyintospaceontheApollo11LunarModule(登月舱)onJuly16,1969.Armstrongwasthecommanderofthemission(任务)andhewastheonewhopilotedtheaircrafttothesurfaceofthemoon.Atalmost11pmonJuly20,1969,Armstrongexitedthecraftandsetfootonthemoon,sayingthenowfamouswords,“That’sonesmallstepforaman,onegiantleapformankind.”
AldrinlaterexitedtheApollo11LunarModuleasheandArmstrongcollectedsamples(样品)fromthemoonthattheycouldbringbacktotheEarthwiththemandstudy.Also,theytookphotographsofthemoonanditssurroundingsaswellastheirfootprintsonthemoon.MichaelCollins,thethirdmemberofthecrew,remainedinthecommandmoduleduringthistime.
ThemissionbeganitsreturnfromthemoononJuly24,1969,fourdaysafteritshistoriclanding.TheApollo11returned,landingjustwestofHawaiiinthePacificOcean.Thethree-membercrewwaskeptawayfromothersforthreeweeksjusttobesuretheywerenotcarryinganyunknowndiseasesorillnesses.Afterall,itwasthefirsttimethemoonhadbeenexplored,sonobodyreallyknewwhattoexpect.Followingthat,theyweretreatedasheroes.

Hearstwaswellknownasoneofthebiggestpublishersandjournalistsofhistime.HestartedwithTheSanFranciscoExaminer,andwentfromthere.Hearstwasoneofthestartersof“yellowjournalism”,whichstartedanewfieldofjournalismthatusedeye-catchingheadlinestodrawtheattentionofreaders.
