TheprotagonistofthisnovelwasadognamedBuck.ThispaperinintendedtomakeacomparisonaboutBuck’smultiplepersonality.JakeLondonthroughtheanimal’spointofviewinhuman.Buckwasadohimselfprouddogbeforehewaskidnapped.ButwhenhegottheharshNorthland.Hehadtochangeforlive.Andatlasthereturnedtothewildunderthecallofthewild.Soitwashuman’soppressthatmakeheturnedtobarbarism.Throughthisnovel,wecanknowthelongingforfreedom.Intheotherword,Buckistherepresentativefaithfulnessoftheauthor’slife.

TheCalloftheWildisthemasterworkofJakeLondon.TheprotagonistsleddogBuckoriginallylivedinSantaClaraValley,anunkissedhouse,enjoyingaluxuriouslife.Atthesametime,thegoldenrushmadethousandsofpeoplerushintotheNorthlandbutBuckhadnosenseofthat.Unfortunately,hewassoldbythegardenerofjudgeforhehasnotenoughmoneytogamble.AndadogtrainertaughtBuckthelawofclub.Hewasbeatenbutnotbroken,ThenhewassendtotheNorthland.Therehesawhisfirstsnow.Andhebegantosetfootinawildworld.Hesawadogdiedthefirstdayhecamethereandknewthathemuststruggleforlive.Thenhelearnedmanylessons.Toallayhunger,helearnedtostealfood.Tokeepwormwhensleep,helearnedtodigholeinthesnowfield.Hesoonadjusthisnewlifeasasleddog.Andhewasmoreresourcefulandbravethanotherdogs.HefightwithSpitzfortheheaderofthegroupandBuckwasthewinneratlast.Soonhewasafamoussleddog.Butaperiodoftimelater,Buck’steamwasreplacebyanotherteamandBuckwassoldagainfortheywerenotasexcellentasbefore.Theydidmorethanbefore.AtlasthislastmasterThorntonsavedhim.BuckwasloyalandgoodnessonlywhenheaccompaniedThornton.ButwhenThorntonwaskilledbyIndians.Buck’connectionwithhumanwascompletelyinterrupted.Hecan’tresistedthecallofthewildanymoreandblendedinwolfpack.Hebecametheleader.ThenhekilledtheIndiansandliveafreedomlifeinthewild.

Buckpossessedaspritaspreciousasgold.Hisloveforfightingwastostruggletosurvive.Whenhewassoldbythegardener,heattacktothemanseveraltimeswithhissharpteeth.Butwhathedidwasinvain.Neverinallhislifehadhebeensovilelytreated,andneverinallhislifehadhebeensoangry.Buckdidnotyielded.Whenheopenedhiseyes.Hesawthemanwhokidnappedhim.Hisjawsclosedontheman’shand,nordidtheyrelaxtillhissenseswerechokedoutofhimoncemore.Buckresistedmanytimesintheway.TheysaidthatBuckwasadevil,Andhewastrueared-eyesdevil.Buckwasbeatenforseveraltimesatdogtrainer’placeuntilhelostconsciousness.AndBuckwantedtobetheleaderafterhedefeatedSpitz.Butthemasterletanotherdogtookthatposition.Buckwasveryangryandnevercompromise.ThemasterhadtoputasideclubandletBucktheleaderofthegroupatlast.Buckwasawinnerandstandonthepositionofleaderwithsmile.Andonce,themasterwantedtomoveonwhentheiceontheriverbegantomelt.Affirstallofthedogsdidnotmove.Butthemasterruthlesslywhippedthem.SoalldogsexceptforBuckstruggledtotheirfeet.Bucklayonthegroundasbeforeinspiteofwhipping.Hedidnotwhineorstruggle.Eventhoughthemasterusedclubinsteadofwhip.Bucknevermove.SowecanseethatBuckwasfullofstrugglesprit.
Buckhadastrongadaptability.Hewassoldtoanotherpeople.TheytookBuckandsomeotherdogstotheNorthland.ThelifeherewasquietdifferentfromthelifeintheSouthland.Hehadbeensuddenlyjerkedfromtheheartofcivilization.Herewasneitherpeace,norrest,noramoment'
ssafety.Themenanddogsweresavagesandknewnolawbutthelawofclubandfang.Onedayhesawadogthattookthesameboatwithhimstrokedownbyanotherdogandmanyotherdogswastearedintopieces.Bucklearnedthatoncedown,thatwastheendofhim.Buckquicklyadaptthelifehere.Inordertogotawayfromcold,helearnedtodigaholeinthesnowfieldwhenheslept.AndBuckalwayscouldnotgetenoughfood.Sotofillthebelly,heswiftlylostthefastidiousnesswhichhadcharacterizedhisoldlifeandlearnedtostealfoodorrobbedhiscompanion’foodafterhesawsawoneofhiscompanionsmalingerandstealothersfood.Justasauthordescribed,thetheftshowedthatBuckcansurviveinthevirulentworld.Besides,Bucklearnedtocracktheicetodrinkwhenhewasthirsty.TherearealsomanyotherlessonsthatBucklearnedintheNorthland.AlloftheseshowedthatBuckwasadaptable.

Bucklongedforfreedom.HewentfromniceandbrightSouthlandtotheNorthlandoficeandsnow.AndBuckquicklyadaptedthechallenginglifehereandlovetheNorthland.Justasauthordescribed,invaguewaysherememberedbacktotheyouthofthebreed,tothetimethewilddogsrangedinpacksthroughtheprimevalforestandkilledtheirmeatastheyranitdown.Itwasnotaskforhimtolearntofightwithcutandslashandthequickwolfsnap.Inthismannerhadfoughtforgottenancestors.Theyquickenedtheoldlifewithinhim,andtheoldtrickswhichtheyhadstampedintotheheredityofthebreedwerehistricks.Theycametohimwithouteffortordiscovery,asthoughtheyhadbeenhisalways.Andwhen,onthestillcoldnights,hepointedhisnoseatastarandhowledlongandwolflike.Buckbecamestrongerandbeganrevivingtheoriginalferity.Andoncetheychasedarabbit,authorwrote“thebloodlust,thejoytokill--allthiswasBuck'
