本诗为拜伦早期抒情诗,发表在1818年出版的《希伯莱歌曲》中。
据说在一次舞会上,拜伦遇到了威尔莫夫人(Mrs.RobertJohnWilmot),她身着带有金属亮片的黑色丧服,看上去哀婉动人。
回去后拜伦便创作了这首典型“骑士传统”(cavaliertradition)的短诗。
