mostofushavedreamsaboutthefuture,dreamsofhavingagoodjobandmakingmuchmoney.surelysomeonehasthoughtattimes“ifonlyihadalotofmoney,icouldbethehappiestpersonintheworld.”infactit’sthemainmistakethatpeoplemakeaboutmoney.

manypeopleworkeveryday,workovertime,workweekendstomakealotofmoney.aretheyhappy?

no.theyaretoobusymakingmoney.meanwhile,theirpersonallives,iftheyhaveany,fallapart.theyhavenotimetoformortomaintainfriendship.theyevenlosetheabilitiestorelaxandtoenjoythemselves.enjoyingmeanstakingthings,takingtimetosee,tohear,totaste,tosmell,tofeel.theydonottaketimetodothis.theysay:

“i’lldoitwhenihaveenoughmoneytoretire”thentheyfindthatitistoolate.

whyweusuallymakesuchamistakeandevenmoremistakes?

activistssayitisbecauseofmoneyitself.theythinkmoneyhaschangedmanythings.forexle,theythinkmoneyhaschangedourwaytomeasuresomeone’svalueinthesociety.theyevenregardmoneyasthesourceofevil.also,theyhatemoney,buttheyarewrong,pletelywrong.

inmyopinion,itisunfairtomoney.moneyisatool.well,there’snodenyingthatwedosomethingharmfulwithmoney.butwecan’tsaymoneyisthesourceofevil.justlikeahammer,wecanuseahammertokillsomeone,butcanwesayahammerisadevil?

someseemtobelievethatourpoliticscanaffordtobepettybecause,inatimeofpeace,thestakesofourdebatesappearsmall.butthestakesforamericaareneversmall.ifourcountrydoesnotleadthecauseoffreedom,itwillnotbeled.ifwedonotturntheheartsofchildrentowardknowledgeandcharacter,wewilllosetheirgiftsandunderminetheiridealism.ifwepermitoureconomytodriftanddecline,thevulnerablewillsuffermost.
