Environmentcrisisleadstooneoftheseriousproblems,namely,watershortage.Presently,morethan40percentoftheworld’spopulation,morethantwobillionpeople,nowfacewatershortage.Itspredictedthatwiththeglobalpopulationexpectedtoincreasefromsixbilliontoeightbillionoverthenext25years,morepressureonEnvironmentprotectionstressisexpected.ManyproblemsremaintoberesolvedinstrikingabalancebetweeneconomicdevelopmentandEnvironmentprotection.

WeconsiderEnvironmentprotectionacommontaskforallpeopleacrosstheworld.Thus,chinahasactivelypromotedbilateralandmulti-lateralcooperationinthefieldofEnvironmentprotection.SignificantachievementshavebeenmadeinEnvironmentplanningandmanagement,pollutioncontrolandprevention,forestprotection,wildanimalandplantprotection,aswellasintheareasconcerningmarineenvironment,climatechange,airpollution,acidandsewagedisposal,etc.

Briefly,herearethethingsthatwehavebeendoingtoprotectourenvironment:

choosingasustainabledevelopmentstrategyforimplementation;

improvingandcontrollingindustrialpollutionandcomprehensivelyworkingontheimprovementoftheurbanenvironment;

carryingoutterritorialcontrolandruralenvironmentprotectiononalargescale;

Preventionandcontrolofindustrialpollutionisapriorityconcerninchina’sEnvironmentprotectionefforts.Wehavecompletedagreatnumberofpollution-controlprojectsthroughthereadjustmentoftheindustrialstructureandproductmix,andpromotedcleanproductionthroughtechnicaltransformation.Whileaddressingindustrialpollution,chinahaspromotedthedevelopmentofeco-agriculture.Thegovernmenthastakenthedevelopmentofeco-agricultureasanimportantmeanstorealizethecoordinateddevelopmentoftheenvironmentandtheeconomy.Thepracticeofeco-agriculturehasbroughtaboutstrikingimprovementsintheagriculturalecologicalenvironment-barrenhillsgreened,forestacreagegreatlyraised,soilerosioncontrolledtosomeextent.
