Abstract
Carlightweightisanimportantmeanstoachieveenergy-savingemissionreductionandmethods,inimprovingthefueleconomyandenvironmentalprotectionhasanimportantrole.Atpresent,thelightweightnewmaterialisthemainwayofthecurrentbodyweightreduction,throughthemulti-materialstructureoptimization,bothtoimprovevehicleperformance,butalsosignificantlyreducethequality.Thischapterdiscussestheperformanceandapplicationofseverallightweightmaterials,describesthedevelopmentoflightweightmaterialsintheautomotiveindustryandtheapplicationofthetrend

Thestudyoflightweightcarisamainstreamofmoderncardesignandmanufacturing.Carlightweight,istoensurethestrengthandsafetyofthecarunderthepremiseofthecarasmuchaspossibletoreducethequalityofthepreparation,therebyenhancingthevehicle'spower,reducefuelconsumptionandreduceexhaustpollution.Datashowthatifthecartoreducethequalityof10%,fuelefficiencycanbeincreasedby6%to8%,fuelconsumptioncanbereducedby6%to10%.Fuelconsumptiondecline,emissionsalsodecreased,whileresourceutilizationincreased,extendedlifeofthecar,theuseofperformancehasimprovedsignificantly.Carbodyqualityaccountsforabout50%ofthequalityofthevehicle,itisclearthatthelightweightbodyforthevehiclelightweightplayapivotalrole[1].Atpresent,thecarbodyweightreductionhastwomainresearchdirections:
First,theuseoflightweightmaterials;Second,optimizethestructure.Structuraloptimizationpotentialspacehasbeenverysmall,thegradualuseoflightweightnewmaterialsisthecurrentbodyofoneofthemainmeansoflightweight.
1Newhighstrengthsteel
Inrecentyears,withtheprogressofmetallurgicaltechnology,onthebasisofhigh-strengthsteel,withultra-lowcarbonasthebasiccharacteristics,andgraduallyformedwithdeepdrawing,highstrength,bakinghardeningperformanceofnewhigh-strengthsteel.Atpresent,theuseofhigh-strengthautomotivebodyismainlysheetmetalandpipe.Mainly:
(1)BHsteel(bakehardeningsteel).BHsteelplateyieldstrengthinthebakingpaintincreased,withoutlossofformabilityunderthepremiseofimprovingtheanti-depression,canreducethesteelplate,mainlyforhighstrengthanddifficulttoformparts,suchasroof,Doors,luggageandothercomponents,themainuseoftensilestrengthof340~390MPaBHsteelplate.
(2)RIPsteel(phasechangeinducedplasticsteel).Mainlyusedforthecollisionmustabsorbmoreenergywhenthehigh-strengthstructuralparts,suchasbodyframe.(3)MSsteel(martensiticphasesteel).Usedtohitthehighimpactparts,thatis,inaveryshortcollisiondeformationstroketoabsorbalotofenergy,suchassidecrashprotection.(4)boronsteel.Usedtorequirehighstrengthandhighdegreeofmoldingofparts,canminimizethequality.SuchasA,Bcolumnreinforcement,etc.[2].
Practicehasprovedthatwhenthethicknessofthesteelwerereduced0.05,0.10,0.15mm,thebodyweightlosswere6%,12%,18%.Intermsofdevelopmenttrends,theuseofnewhigh-strengthsteelplateinthebodyisconstantlythinning,whilethebodystrengthhasincreased,whileincreasingthesafetyofthecar,reducingnoiseandvibration,improvefuelefficiencyandreducetheoverallqualityofthecar.Thecostdidnotincrease,whiletheacceleration,drivingperformancehasimproved.Whetherfromthecostpointofview,orfromtheperformancepointofview,thenewhigh-strengthsteelplateistomeetthelightweightbodytoimprovethesafetyofthecollisionofthebestmaterials.Theproportionofnewhigh-strengthsteelplatesusedinvariousautomobilefactoriesisincreasing.Japan'sMitsubishiPajero(SPORT)forthecompany'slatestSUVcardesignedanewbodystructure,body70%ofthecomponentsmadeofhigh-strengthsteelplate,thevehicle'storsionalstiffnessevenhigherthantheGrandCherokee45%Bodycarryingcapacityofupto2tormore.Ford'sWindstarbodyframe60%ishighstrengthsteel.Toyota'snewVitzbodystructureinhigh-strengthsteelaccountedfor48%,thanthecompany'sStarletcartoreducethequalityof17kg.
