论CLT教学法在高中教学的应用

AnalysisofRestraintsinUsingCLT

inSeniorHighSchoolEnglishTeaching

I.Introduction

Communicativeapproach,asanewteachingmethod,wasintroducedtoEFL（EnglishasForeignlanguage）teachersinChinain1970sandisgraduallyadoptedthusbecamepopularin1990sinChina.TheauthorwantstoknowwhethertheadoptionofCLTinChinaiseffective.Ifnot,whataretherestraintsthataffecttheadoption?

Howeveroursocietyhasn’trecognizedtheharmoftheserestraintswhichaffecttheefficientuseofCLT.Thisarticleiswrittentodrawteachers’authorities’andparents’attentiontotakeremediestorealizetheefficientuseofCLT.

TheessayisbasedonaresearchwhichwasmadeinYueqingCity,theauthor’shometown,acityinZhejiangProvince.Theresearchisontheformofaquestionnaireandinterviews.Theresearchwasmadeindifferentkindsofschools,includingkeypublicschoolsordinarypublicschoolsandprivateschoolstokeeptheresultscientific.Onehundredandeightteachersfromdifferentschoolsareinterviewedbyquestionnaires.

Thisessayisdividedintofiveparts.ThefirstpartofthisessayisintroductionofCLT.ThesecondpartistointroducetheresultofresearchconcerningcurrentsituationofuseofCLT.ThethirdpartistoanalyzerestraintsinusingCLT.Thefourthpartistogiveremedies.Thelastpartistoconclude.

1.1DefinitionofCLT

CommunicativeLanguageTeachingisalsocalledCommunicativeApproach.Itisanapproachtoforeignorsecondlanguageteaching，whichemphasizesthatthegoaloflanguageteachingiscommunicativecompetence.Theapproachfollowsthenationalsyllabusandemphasizestheprocessesofcommunicationtogetinformation，usinglanguageforsocialinteractionwithotherpeople.Thefunctionalviewoflanguageisprimaryonebehindthecommunicativemethod.ThegoaloflanguageteachingistodevelopwhatHymes（1972:

5）referredtoas“communicativecompetence，whichinvolvesbeingabletousethelanguageappropriateinagivensocialcontext.”AccordingtoBrown（1983），thedefinitionofCLTincludesfourcharacteristics:

（l）Classroomgoalsarefocusedonallofthecomponentsofcommunicativecompetenceandnotrestrictedtogrammaticalorlinguisticcompetence.

（2）Formisnottheprimaryframeworkfororganizingandsequencinglessons.Formistheframeworkthroughwhichfunctionistaught.

（3）Accuracyissecondaryintermsofconveyingmessages.Fluencymaytakemoreimportancethanaccuracy.Theultimatecriterionforcommunicativesuccessistheactualtransmissionandreceivingofintendedmeaning.

（4）Inthecommunicativeclassroom，thestudentsultimatelyhavetousethelanguageproductivelyandreceptively,inunrehearsedcontexts.

1.2TheFeatureofCLT

Comparedwithothermethods,CLTmeritsmanydistinguishingfeatures.

Learnersarerequiredtobeactivelyinvolvedinusinglanguagebymeansoflearningthrough“learnerslearnhowtouseLanguagecreatively，suchasrespondinginnovelandauthenticcommunicativesituations.”Grammarandvocabularyaretaughtcommunicatively.Solearnerscanusethegrammartoexpressdifferentcommunicativemeanings.Learnersworkinsmallgroupsandpairs.Theylearnskillsofcooperatingwithothersandhowtoexpresstheirownopinionsandfeelingsbyengaginginactivitiesinwhichtheymustthinkcreatively.Theyareprovidedbyopportunitiesforusingthemeaningfulcontextandinnewandcomplexways.Eachclassmayincludedailyrevisionoflanguage,richandcomprehensibleinputandnegotiatemeaning“Putupwithlearners’errors.”Fluencyfirst，accuracysecondinoralwork.

II.AResearchontheUseofCLT

Inordertogetfirsthandinformation,theauthormakesaresearchinsevenseniorhighschoolsinYueqingCity.Onehundredandeightteachersfromdifferentschoolsareinterviewedbyquestionnaires.Theinformationofthequestionnaireisgivenintheappendixattheendofthispaper.
