【摘要】1886年，柯南·

道尔完成了《福尔摩斯侦探集》的第一篇小说《血字的研究》。

随后，福尔摩斯的探案故事红遍全球，作者也因这部作品名利双收。

这部创作于英国维多利亚时代时期的作品细致刻画了其故事发生的舞台，即当时的伦敦；

要了解这部作品，就要认识故事背景。

本文将以柯南·

道尔在1886年至1927年创作的《福尔摩斯侦探集》中的前四部为基础，即《血字的研究》、《四签名》、《冒险经历》以及《回忆录》，以文本分析的方法，通过分析小说中对伦敦各方面的描写，结合相关的历史文献资料，研究维多利亚时期的伦敦，还原其当时的面貌，并挖掘其隐藏的形象，为读者呈现一个福尔摩斯真正“生活”过的伦敦。

[ABSTRACT]In1886,SirArthurConanDoylefinishedthefirstnovelofSherlockHolmes’stales—AStudyinScarlet.Afterwards,thetalesofSherlockHolmesbecamepopularallovertheworld.Andmeanwhile,andSirArthurConanDoylegainedbothfameandwealthforthework.ThetalesofSherlockHolmeswhichwerewritteninVictorianErahasadetaileddescriptionofitsbackgroundofstories—theLondoninVictorianEra.Thereadersmayneedtoknowthebackgroundofthiswork,inordertogettoknowthetalesofSherlockHolmesbetter.ThisthesisisbasedonSirArthurConanDoyle’sfirstfournovelsofSherlockHolmeswhichwerewrittenbetween1886and1927—AStudyinScarlet,TheSignofFour,AdventuresofSherlockHolmesandMemoirsofSherlockHolmes.AnditconductsastudyontheLondoninVictorianErafromallthedescriptionsaboutthecityintheworkthroughanapproachoftextanalysis.TheauthorconsultsthehistoryliteraturesandtriestorestoretheVictorianLondonfromthetalesofSherlockHolmes,digsoutthehiddenimageofthecityandshowaLondonwhichSherlockHolmes“really”livedin.

sreignfrom20June1837untilherdeathon22January1901.Itwasalongperiodofpeace,prosperity,refinedsensibilitiesandnationalself-confidenceforBritain.AndtherewerefourpartsofSherlockHolmes’stalesbeingwritteninVictorianEra.So,theyprovidedalargenumberofdetaileddescriptionstothestories’backgroundstage,theLondoninVictorianEra.

ThefamousBritishnovelistWilliamSomersetMaugham（25January1874–16December1965）said,“NodetectivestorieshaveeverhadthepopularityofConanDoyle’sandbecauseoftheinventionofSherlockHolmesIthinkitmustbeadmittedthatnonehavesowelldeservedit.”（ChristopherMorley,StevenRothman,1990:
