NewMethodforEvaluatingThermalWearofRoilsinRollingProcess
Abstract:
Anewmethodwasdevelopedbyathermalwearmachinetoevaluatethethermalwearofrollsinsteelrollingprocess.Thestee1stripandrollsweresimulatedbyupperand1owerheatingdisks.Theupperheatingdiskcouldbekeptatatemperatureofover900℃byinductionheating.Thepressurebetweenthedisksashighas323.2MPacouldbeachievedandtheslippingratecouldbe12.7.Thethermalwearofhighspeedsteel(HSS)rollmaterial,thewearrateoftheHSSroll,andtheSEMmorphologyofawornHSSrollsurfacewereinvestigated.Thismethodwasusefulandcouldbeemployedtosimulatefrictionandwearbetweenstripandrollduringthestriproilingprocess.

Therollisoneofthemostimportanttoolsintherollingprocess.Itssurfacemaygetwornoutbecauseoftherelativeslipbetweentherollsurfaceandsteelsforthefastchangesinbothrollingforceandtemperature.Indesigningandcalculatingthewearcrownofrolls,therollwearisaveryimportantfactorandhastobetakenintoconsideration,asitcanreducethedifficultyincontrollingsteelshapeandincreasetheaccuracyinthecalculationmodeloftherollwearcrown.Furthermore,thewearoftherollsurfacewilldirectlyaffectthesurfacequalityofstee1.Therefore,itissignificanttodevelopanapproachmethodtoevaluatetherollwearandtostudythemechanismofrollwearbasedonfrictiontheory.
Todate,manystudieshavebeencarriedoutconcerningrollwear.Forexample,Katodevelopedathermalwearequipment.whichisadiskshapedmachine.However,itisdifficulttosimulatethewearbetweensteelandrollduringtherollingprocess,asthediskissmal1andthin,andtheloadisnotverylarge.GlottalEandLietalE.studiedthethermalwearattributionofwear-resistantmaterials9Cr2and3Cr2W8V,andthethermalwearequipmenttheyusedwasapindiskmachine,whichcouldnotbeusedtosimulatethethermalwearoftherol1.Liaousedasmal1mil1torollthewireandstudiedthethermalwearoftherollwithhighCrcastiron.However,thisequipmentwasamil1andtheworkpiecethatneededtobeheatedandrolledforstudringthefrictionalwear.Thus,forsomeworkpiecesitwasalmostimpossibletostudythewearunderdifferentslippingrateandloadforalongperiod.
Inthispaper,thethermalweartestmethodisdeveloped,whichisadisk-likemachine.Theupperandlowerdisksareusedtosimulatetheworkpieceandtheroll,respectively.Theupperdiskcanbeheatedupto900℃throughaninductioncoil.Theloadcanbeexertedashighas323.2MPabetweendisks,andthemaximumslippageratiois12.7.
1.Principle
Toevaluatethethermalwearofrolls,anewtestmachinewasdeveloped,whichwasdisk-likeonthebasisofthe2-high160mmmill.Thedisk,driveshaft,bearingblock,andforcingequipmentweredesignedandmanufactured。
andtheinductionheatingequipmentwasdesignedwithaspecialshapetoheattheupperdiskwherethetemperaturecouldreachhigherthan900℃.Theupperandlowerdiskscouldbeusedtosimulatetheworkpieceandtherollsduringhotrolling,respectively.Theratiooftheslipbetweendiskscouldbedeterminedbytheforwardslip.Thelowerdiskwithdifferentembeddedmaterialscouldbeemployedtostudythewearoftherollundersomerollingcondition.
Theoriginal2-high160mmmillconsistsofmotor-drivenequipment,areducer,andjunctor.Thedevicestobedesignedaredisk,shaft,bearingblock,forcingequipment,balancingspring,endcap,cushionring,junctionbox,backplate,andsoon.Thehighfrequencyinductionequipmentisdesignedasaspecialheatingmode.
(1)Thedimensionoftheupperdiskis160mm×30mmandthatofthelowerdiskis160mm×50mm.Thediskmaterialis45steelandthedimensionoftheexperimentalrollmaterialis10mm×10mm,whichisembeddedontheperipheryofthe1owerdisk.
(2)Themateria1ofthedriveshaftis40Crsteelwhichishollowforwatercooling.Thebearingblock,theforcingequipment,andthebalancingspringarealsodesigned.
Forthispurpose.TheGP10-C1high-frequencyinductionapparatusisemployed,andtheinductionpowersourceandtheparametersarelistedinTable1.
ThesurfaceoftheinverseupperdiskisheatedbytheGP10-C1inductionpowersourceaccordingtothetheoryofskineffectofelectromagneticinductionheating.Theinductioncoilisspeciallydesignedasasemicircleforacontinuousheatingoftheinverseupperdisk.TheexperimentalsetupfortestingthermalwearincludingtheheaterandwatercoolingsystemofthedisksisschematicallyillustratedinFig.1.TheconductormaterialisT1orT2purecoppertubeandthedimensionis10mm×1mm.
