Then,thescienceteacher,MrMoose,decidedthattheschoolshouldhaveapaperairplanecontest.Everystudentwoulddesignapaperairplane.Theywouldstandinalineintheplaygroundbehindtheschool.Thestudentswouldtaketurnsthrowingtheirairplanes.Thestudentwhoseairplanewentthefarthestwouldwin.
WhenMrMooseannouncedthepaperairplanecontesttothestudents,theywereveryexcited.AstudentnamedPaul,whowasontheschoolsportsteam,saidtoeveryoneelsethathis
airplanewouldwin.“Iamstrongest,the”Paulsaid.“SoIwill
beabletothrowmyairplanethefarthest.”
However,whilePaulwassayingthis,anotherstudent,
Brian,wasthinkinghowhecouldwin.Briandidnotplayanysportsandwasnotverystrong.Buthelovedairplanesandreallywantedtowinthecontest.
Brianrealizedwhathehadtodo.Hewenttothestoreandboughtabigstack(叠)ofpaper.Whenhegothome,hetookthepaperintohisbackyard.Hetookapieceofpaperandfoldedan
airplane.Itdidn’tgoveryfar,soBriantookanotherpieceand
foldedanotherairplaneandthrewit.Thisairplanewentalittle
farther.Briankeptfoldingdifferentkindsofairplanesandthrowingthem.Somewentveryfarandsomedidnot.Finally,whenBrianhadusedallthepaper,hewalkeduptotheairplanethathadflownthefarthestandpickeditup.
Thenextdaywasthecontest.Allthestudentslinedup.
Everyonetookturns.Afterawhile,everyonehadthrownexcept
PaulandBrian.Paulwentfirst.Withaloudyell,hethrewthe
