Theresearcherscarriedoutacreate-test-retestexperimentwhere63peoplewereaskedtocreateagesture,recallit,andrecallitagain10dayslater.Thegestureswerecaptured(采集)onarecognizersystemdesignedbytheteam.Usingthisdata,theytestedthecomplexityandaccuracyofeachgestureusinginformationtheory.Theresultoftheiranalysisisthatpeoplearefavorabletousefree-formgesturesaspasswords.
