1)作为动词,“设法;尝试;试图”
结构为:
attempttodosth相当于trytodosth/seektodosth意思为:
尽力做,但不一定成功。
注意区别:
succeedindoingsth/managetodo意思为:
成功地做某事;
2)作为名词,“试图;尝试;努力”
结构为:
makeanattempttodosth/makeone’sattempttodosth.
如:
①EverytimeIhaveattemptedtoconvinceher,I’vefailedcompletely.
②Allattemptstocontrolinflationhavefailed.
4.focus1)vt/vi集中精力于……
Modernmedicinehastendedtofocustoomuchondevelopinghighlycomplicatedtechniques.
2)vt调节(照相机的)焦距
Hefocusedhisbinocularsonthebuildingopposite.
3)n焦点,重点

3)n.“二十”,它与dozen,hundred,thousand,million等词一样,前面有确定数字时,不加s,但可以与介词of连用,但hundred,thousand和million前面有确定数词时,不能跟of短语。
没有确定数词时加s及of表示许许多多。

修饰比较级的词有:
agreat(good)deal;much;rather,far;byfar(通常强调最高级,修饰比较级时放在比较级之后;如放在前面,应在比较级前加the).比较:

辨析“许多”的表达法
