(1961).Knownforhisclearthinking,hearguedforthecauseofpeoplewhoareignoredinawealthysociety.ThequotationreferredtoinPassageAfirstappearedintheSaturdayEveningPost(December1,1962)andhassincebeenusedalmostonethousandtimesinwritingsbyothers.
3.Wastemanagementandtrashmen
Eversinceancienttimes,humanbeingshavelearnedhowtodealwithlargeamountsofgarbageinurbanareas.AsearlyasthesecondcenturyBC,theChinesehadestablishedaworkforcethatgatheredgarbageinitsmajorcities.IntheUnitedStates,BenjaminFranklinwasthefirsttoimplementsanitationservicesintheformofstreetcleaningandsometrashremovalduringthe1700sinPhiladelphia.Today,eachlocalgovernmentintheUSmanagesitsownwastemanagementservice.Theemployeeswhocollectgarbagearecalledtrashmen.
