父母离婚后,继父给了我和妹妹完整的父爱。
他把我们当作亲生孩子一般照料,而且鼓励我们和亲生父亲交流。

OurparentsdivorcedwhenKarenwasatoddler(刚学步的小孩),andafewyearslaterwewereblessedwiththebestofacomplicatedworld-afatherandastepfather.Thesituationwoundupabitconfusinglaterondowntheroad.EspeciallywhenitwastimeforKarentogetmarried.
Assometimeshappenedinthosedays,longbeforesharedcustody(监护权)anddivorcemediation(仲裁),wedidn'tmaintainmuchcontactwithournaturalfather.Itwashopedthatournewstepfatherwouldgrowtobetheappleofoureyes.

WhenKarenwasinhighschoolandIwasmarried,livingfarawayfromhome,wewentthroughaseconddivorce.Thistime,however,Iwascarefultomaintainties.Gordonremainedthefatherfigurehe'dalwaysbeenandevenbecame"GrandpaGordon"tomyfirstborn.KarenandGordongrewapartsome,butreestablishedtiesaftergraduation.
Gordoneventuallyremarried.Carolwasideallysuitedtohimandunderstoodthecomplicationsofoursituation.WhentheybothencouragedKarentomendherseveredtieswithDad,shebravelysetaboutrenewingarelationshipshebarelyremembered.
CommunicationwithDadwas,atitsbest,onthesurface.Weknewhelovedusandheknewwelovedhim,butthewordswereseldomspokenaloud.AndnoneofusevermentionedourrelationshipwithGordon.

LovingGordondoesn'tmeaninanywaythatweloveyouanyless.Thereisplentyofroomfortwowonderfulfathersinourlives.Gordonalwaysencouragedcontactwithyou,neverspokeawordagainstyouorunderminedourfeelingsforyou.WerespectthefactthatyounevervoicednegativefeelingsaboutGordon.
Givethissomethought.RememberbothKarenandIloveyouandwantourfamilytiestoberestored.Rememberthatinyourabsence,weestablishedstrongfamilytieswithGordon,anditwouldbeunfairtoallofustoexpectthattostop.
ItwouldbeabeautifulsighttowatchKarenwalkingdowntheaisleonherweddingday,flankedbytwowonderfulfathers.Itwouldbeananswertoprayer.
