WithinAustralia,AustralianHotelsInc（AHI）operatesninehotelsandemploysover2000permanentfull-timestaff,300permanentpart-timeemployeesand100casualstaff.Oneofitslatestventures,theSydneyAirportHotel（SAH）,openedinMarch1995.ThehotelistheclosesttoSydneyAirportandisdesignedtoprovidethebestavailableaccommodation,foodandbeverageandmeetingfacilitiesinSydney’ssouthernsuburbs.Similartomanyinternationalhotelchains,however,AHIhasexperienceddifficultiesinAustraliainprovidinglong-termprofitsforhotelowners,asaresultofthecountry’shighlabour-coststructure.Inordertodevelopaneconomicallyviable（可行的）hotelorganization,model,AHIdecidedtoimplementsomenewpoliciesandpracticesatSAH.
