GrowingUpinAustralia
Since2004,Australiahasbeenholdingitslargeststudyofchildren’shealthever.Thisproject,“GrowingUpinAustralia,”isfollowingtwogroupsofchildrenfromearlychildhooduntiltheybecomeadults.TheprojectisbeingsupportedbytheAustraliangovernmentandinvolveshundredsofresearchersvisitingthehomesof10,000children.Researchershopetofindarelationshipbetweenthechildren’sfuturebehaviorandtheirhealth,education,andfamilyenvironments.
Whenthestudybegan,thefirstgroupofchildrenwasaged0-1,whilethesecondgroupwasaged4-5.Inordertomakesurethatchildrenfromeverykindofenvironmentandbackgroundwerechosen,thestudyfoundvolunteersfromeacharea.Somevolunteersareinthecountryside,whileothersareinbigcities.Thevolunteersforbothgroupswerechosenfromavarietyofdifferentsocialandethnic(种族)backgrounds.
