ThepresentstudypresentsadetailedreportofaprojectimplementedtosolvetheproblemthatmostofmystudentsintheruralareasareweakinspeakingEnglish.Itishypothesizedthatlearners’interestinoralpracticewillbegreatlyincreasedbybetteroralworkdesign.Thishypothesisisverifiedbyafour-weekpracticeofclassroomteachingwiththespeciallydesignedoralexerciseactivities.

Inmyopinion,therewerefourmainreasonsthataccountedforstudents'lackofinterestinoralclass.Firstly,somestudentswereafraidofbeinglaughedbyothersbecauseoftheirpoorpronunciationandperformance.Secondly,somestudentswantedtosay,buttheydidn'tknowhowtogetstartandwhattosay.Thirdly,somestudentsparticularlythosewhodidnotdowellinthetraditionalgrammar-orientedwrittenexamlackedself-confidenceinoralwork.Theythoughtthattheoralclasswasonlytheshowing-timeforthe“top-students”.Fourthly,somestudentsdidn'tthinktheoralpracticeisusefultotheirgrammar-orientedexam,sotheywerenotinterestedinitatall.
