OnDecember12»1901,theItalianelectricalengineerGuglieimoMarconi(1874-1937)succeededinsendingradiosignalsfromEnglandtoNewfoundlandacrosstheAtlanticOcean.Thisisusuallytakenasrepresentingtheinventionofradio.Suchradiosignalsaretransmittedbytheuseofradiowaves,similarinnaturetolightwaves,butamillionorsotimeslonger.
