Outoffrustration,hefinallychosethefirsttwowordsthatrhymedasthetitle.Catandhatwerewhathefound.HenextworkedonwhatthecatwouldlooklikeandhowhewouIdact.AsGeiselwrote,hiscatwasshapedandinspiredbytwoothercartooncatshehadadmiredsincechildhood.ThefirstwasfromcomicKrazyKat.Geisel'scatwouldchannelKrazy'sphysicalappearance.Asforitspersonality,Geisellookedtoanothercartooncatforinspiration:
